Smile MA employee health insurance
I am a CVT who injured my back almost a year ago. I have been out of work since 12/3/08. I am still an employee. I have been making huge payments to keep my health insurance benefits. I was told today in order to keep my "Cobra" I needed to pay 1,000 dollars. I confirmed I was still an employee and am really confused!!! Who is responsible for health insurance payment?

RE: MA employee health insurance
Health insurance is not free when you have a work injury.
FMLA laws requires covered employers to offer the COBRA option.

RE: MA employee health insurance
I have always found that it is each indivdual employer's decision. Obviously your's doesn't pay the premiums for an IW. Mine did for almost 3 years. I was very lucky. It is in my employers handbook that they will pay the benefits for an IW for up to 3 years OR their return to pre injury position. Without this being written there isn't much to go on.

God is never late.

In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years.

I just want to thank you for your response. I discussed things with an attorney who told me there is no law that requires companies to pay insurance for an employee on WC.
So disappointed!
Thanks
