Well that was aweful

RE: Well that was aweful
He had a machine and snapped a picture before he put the needle in and then he stuck the needle in and injected me and then after he injected I heard him tell the nurse to take another picture. I didn't get how that would work to well taking it after the needle is in and injected but what do I know I don't have a degree in medicine. Hearing about that other PM doctor who continuously shoots pics as he is inserting the needle sounded like the way to go to me.

How does the flouroscopy thing work? Is it the one that nurse at the hospital was talking about today where it just shoots pictured continuously as they are inserting the needle?

Thanks guys for all the help at lease I don't feel all alone having you all here Smile.

Oh one more thing I cannot figure out is why is my hip hurting so bad that I cannot even put pressure on it? I get the lower back hurting because that is where I was injured but the hip to stand out with the pain like this?

None of my six were done with pics. A PM Dr. did 3 and a neurologist did 3. Same routine. Epidural hooked up, lidocaine and steroid injected. The neurologist did them up higher and that's where I got my relief.

God is never late.

In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years.

The floroscope is a real time picture of what is happening internally as opposed to a still image.

Definately have some follow up done to see if there was any damage and why the specific pain areas.

One thing we found out after 2 injections that initally there is more localized pain but no overall benefit. The Dr ordered a new MRI where it was discovered there was still a lot of swelling and fluid around the injury site ( T11 & T12) so the injection was not getting to where it needed to be and it just added to the pressure of the fluid that was already there.

The injections as a treatment were ruled out because of the edema and poor results initally.

Well I know he didn't use a floroscope. Don't think I will be going back to him instead I will ask my doc for a referal to someone else someone who does use it. I am going to go have this checked out and make sure there is no more damage or whatever it could me asap.

An issue with injections as well as medication is that everyone is different. Meaning, what works for some may not work for others.

8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom.

I know I was just so hoping this would work for me and give me some relief Sad . I am not sure how but I kid you not it hurts even worse as I lay here typing this than it did at this time last night Sad. I just talked to my Brother in law tonight who had the injections done last year (just found out tonight never knew he even had back problems) and he said that they hit the nerve when they did his and he screamed a few choice words and told them to get the needle out of his back NOW! He said that he has had his fingers cut off and it didn't hurt as bad as that did he said he didn't shed a tear for the finger pain but when that needle went in the tears started rolling. The problem with him is he still has the pain it never went away. That really scares me but surely that is a very rare thing for it not to go away right?

Nerve damage can be very severe, even disabling. I as well as other here are living proof of that. In my case, part of the shattered disc was pressing on the nerve to long.

The nerves can heal themselves. It takes 6 to 12 months for that to happen in some cases.

When I had my injection, it was like having a shot in the arm. The only diffence was that it was in the back and there were no results. I refer to it as a neccesary evil. All conservative step must be taken prior to surgey.

RE: Well that was aweful
I really need to get to someone who will have me checked to make sure there is no nerve damage then and plan on doing it just as soon as I possibly can.

The injection in my right side was nothing like you said a shot in the arm and I am not even sure it was even that bad lol.

The left though OMG i still cannot believe how it was it just seems like a nightmare that I can't wake up from.

I still haven't found anyone else who has had their hip hurting as bad as their lower back after a bad injection. That has me really confused.
