On Leave but someone has my job.

I have been on disablity for a month and a half and I just found out that someone was promoted to my position at my workplace. It is my understanding that someone can't fill my position as I am technically still an employee of the company. Is this correct and what should I do? I am fearful that my job is gone and I have nothing to return to and will be out of work because of this. Any advice is amazing.

many employees are covered by FMLA laws that will allow you up to 12 weeks off with job protection.
read the FMLA laws to see if you are protected

Depending on your job, your employer may have HAD to fill the position. Your employer does not have any obligation to hold your job while you are on WC. Except for the 12-week FMLA job protection.
