FCE
In Maryland

My Doctor has ordered a FCE, I had a Commpression fracture L1 & L5 with pressure on my disc to numb my right foot, more than the pins and needles with times total numbness.

My doctor released me to full duty, being unable to perform based on the criteria of the job the employer would not allow me to work, stating i would be a liability and I must be 100% to return to work.

Back to this FCE, what is the purpose, am I monitored for pain?
I cant lift, will this count against me.
my walking may be good for 15-20mins.

lastly, is this the last stage before MMI, the FCE?

RE: FCE
a FCE is just that. Functional Capacity Exam. It may last 4 hours. Just do what you can. If the pain gets to much, just stop and tell them. Your heart rate may be monitored during the exam. They use that as signal to determine if you are pushing yourself or just faking it. I would not and did not take my meds. before my FCEs. I wanted a true reading without the pain meds.

8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom.

RE: FCE
My FCE Therapist, basically said I am done, with my prior job, the lifting twisting and turning he will report as a negative.

What happens now, my doctor wanted confirmation about my progress, do I proceed to MMI? I have completed the IME 2 months prior to the FCE. surgery is out, what is the logical next step. in Maryland

I was on light duty but my employer don't take anybody on light duty by the time i am done with FCE I was sedentry. The pain I had was enormous and my pain came back and had a horrible x-MAS was so hard to attend the midnight mass and ended be sedentry. I asked my in network doctor (workman comp) why he send me there with no restrictions,(FCE therapist played all kinds of games with me and did not know it till after the fact!) He said get a Lawyer if you dont have one. Good luck do your best but don't let them abuse you. Keep in mind while you're there "Silence is Golden"

RE: FCE
I'm Sorry I may have Missed the State Your in, but I didn't seem to See it Anywhere. Without knowing Your State this Opinion will be of a "Blanket Nature" and I Hope it Helps! Every Process they are Sending You to, IME's, FCE's and so forth are Normal, I have been in this System just Shy of 5 Years, and have had 2 FCE's and 3 IME's. These Tests are Used Two-Fold,:

1) To Monitor Your Progress and/or Get You the Treatment and Meds. You May need to Recover. (or)

2) To Make a Case Against You and Stack the Deck in Their Favor, and if You don't React Quickly and with the Correct Information, Close Your Case and Alleviate them from ANY Responsibility regarding Your Injury!

My Opinion Only, it seems they are Using these Tests for Number 2, and You Need Counsel to be Sure and Protect Your Rights!! I Hope I'm Dead Wrong, but if I were You, I would be Searching for an Attorney that Deals with w/c Cases, You can Bet the Farm they have Their Attorney's on Your Case!! Best of Luck!!

Failed Back Surgery, Chronic Pain, Totally Disabled.

Knowledge is Power, Especially in the World of w/c. Learn as Much as You can about Your States w/c Laws, and don't Fight Battles alone, They Use Attorney's, and so Should You!!
