you are not gonna believe this
last month several days before Bill had his bypass someone cold cocked my Daddy now Daddy turned 97 the 3rd of july....because I felt my place was with Bill and couldnt stay with Daddy and keep him safe he was taken into protective custody by adult protection services and put into a nursing home. They gave Momma the choice to go with him or stay at home.....she went with Daddy...The decision was made by APS and Bill and I that my folks were no longer safe in their own home and our home was just 2 small to put them in with us with Mom being in a wheel chair...We looked into someone moving in with them to be a live in help that wasnt really an option as the smuck that hit Daddy was a family member....we really thought the nursing home was our only option.....I was asking my church sisters for prayer for wisdom to be able to explain this decision to my folks and for me and them to accept it......Clara God bless her heart went home and spoke to her husband and before I knew it there were people crawling all over my back pasture.....what was once a grassy area now has a 20 by 36 ft cabin on it with a 8 ft porch.... wide door ways..Saturday the men of the church will come to put in the wheel chair ramp, plumbing and do the insulation and drywall and put in a septic system...The women will paint and clean up afterwards..This cabin has been built with the love and sweat of our church family and will be finished 10 days after it started...Mom and Daddy will not have to spend their final days in a nursing home but in their own home snug behind our home where the smuck that hit my Daddy will not dare show his face unless he wants to test my aim with my favorite shot gun.....The church family will not except one dime we have paid only for the materials and it will come in at under 10 thousand dollars for a 500 square ft cabin....the joy in my Daddys face everyday when we bring him out to check the progress is worth the world to me......He just looks so happy and at peace....Saturday when they are finished I will have Becca post pictures for you all.....I am just so full of joy and thankfulness I had to share this with you all......Hopefully mid next week they will be snug in their cabin
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: you are not gonna believe this
That is awesome Jayne. Your church members do as the ones that I grew up around (Almish & Mennonite) and help each other no matter what. It's so good that there are kind people still around. I'm so glad that your parents will be near enough to you that you and your family can help them and watch over them. I'm not fond of nursing homes, seen too many problems happen.
Good luck Vickie |
