RE: Don't know where to go
I did not know you could collect SSDI and also work. Now you can collect SS retirement and work. If your Dr has released you to work , you can collect unemployment.under your Dr restrictions.
Kate is from Florida and may be able to help you more in making a decision. Hang in there.
If you have come this far with no problems with WC, and are receiving regular checks yet. I see no reason for an Attorney at this time.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.

RE: Don't know where to go
Lawyers dont always get you a check right away.....I went a whole year without a check and had a good lawyer...we won in the end but if they(WC) dont wanna pay you and it takes a court order to pay you it could be a long time to get to court.....lawyers are not magicians.....

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: Don't know where to go
The way I understand it you can try to work for up to 9 months without losing your SSD, if you can't work then nothing lost if you can the SSD stops but can be restarted I think within 5 yrs, ( don't know for sure the time)

Since I am shocked I was approved for SSD, I still want to see if I can work, my plans were to work until I was 70, but I think I can see that I will not be able to work or at least work in what I was doing, Property Management. If I take the SS Retirement I can earn around $14,000 a yr without losing. I just did not think I would have to be making these decisions, not now. I know people who have died before they were approved for SSD and I get it the 1st try, there has to be a reason.

As I always say, everything happens for a reason, and just because I can't see the reason doesn't mean anything.
Thank all of you for you answers, I love reading them and I have learned alot, since May when I found this site.
