Spawns of the devil
I am in a 60 room super 8 motel in which 45 to 48 rooms are filled with 11-13 year old baseball players and their coaches and parents....they have in 3 days driven the manager of this hotel ragged...they have ran up and down the halls till well after midnight running remote control cars into doors screaming and knocking on doors.....broke the hot tub and threw chairs and towels into the pool.and ripped down 2 exit signs..all without the parents saying a word course they are way to busy drinking and BBQing outside the back door to do a whole lot of chaparoning....to be fair the majority of these kids have been well mannered and their parents have stayed with them outside the hotel and we have run into several of the families outside the hotel around town and they have apoligized for the behavior of the other teams....But I ask you why? Is this the example these children are being given? thats its ok to distroy others property and misbehave? its so sad to see it happening...these are all star little leaguers the best of the best.....its sad to know they will grow up to act even worse as adults.......I was shamed by the fact that even tho I dearly love children and normally can get along with even the worst of them that after the wet towel was thrown into the face of my child I lost it......I did take the child to the mother and explained what the child was doing and how very dangerous it was to have that many young children in the pool with no adult supervision...her words to me was I will go down and yell at them..... to which I replied they dont need yelling at they need a responsiable adult to stay with them and keep them in line to which she answered then you do it!!!!!!!!!! At which time I very politely told her what I needed to do was take my children to the room before one of hers injured them...to which she politly offered to shove her beer bottle up my well you know...........By this time the Manager had showed up and explained to the lady a bill was being tallyed and she needed to know whos brats belong to who or should she bill the league? And did she know it was illegal to be drinking on hotel property? This manager was a cool cucumber and has went above and beyond to help our family to include a private swim for our kids tonite.....this has been a trip and a half...she did tell me to go online find the best price and then call the hotel direct and tell them what you found online most will honor it unless they are 75% booked then they cant......I will be glad to go back to my mountains tomorrow....
you all be good

RE: Spawns of the devil
Jayne I am so sorry your family has gone thru this, and it makes me mad that this group of unresponsibile and non caring individuals will leave a bad memory for many as they leave the state of Kansas.

Most individuals in this state are loving & caring individuals.

I guess no matter where you go there are those few "problem" individuals.

I would like to share my story of what happened yesterday with my son:
My family was at the 4-H fair yesterday and another child pulled a knife on my autistic son. No one saw it happen but my son came out of the building crying & shaking and told hubby what happened.

RE: Spawns of the devil
Wow... bummer how frightening for your son. I am so thankful that the told you both about it however. When we first came to Phila becasue I was assigned to the hospital here (USNAVY) I was in shock about how the kids acted. The school system was a mess. When we got here, I had take about a 50% pay cut to come into the military, my husband took a 100% pay cut because he could not find a job here for almost 11/2 years .... so I moon lighted an extra 40 hours + a week so that I could pay to put my youngest two kids in a catholic school versus public. then of course, after the first year, I left for other regions of the world to do my job there, and so I could not be home to moon light and we had to take our youngest two out of the private schools and put into the public schools. What a mess that was. They had bars on the windows, guards at the doors checking bags for weapons etc, etc etc. I think you get my point. Any way, one day, our son went to school with a new coat and pair of shoes that he got for Christmas. He came home that night with no shoes on his feet, and no jacket. 4 boys took them from him threatening him with a knife and one had a gun. This all occurred just inside the gates of the school. Del was enraged and went to the school. there comment was that they could not control every thing that happens at the school and to make sure that our son only wore to school non name brand clothes etc. I could not believe their attitude. Needless to say, Del and I took them out of the schools and we started a home schooling program. We had no choice. I was concerned about their safety. Our oldest daughter went to Girl's high which is a very elite high school and she received an excellent education. Chris went on however, and got his GED, joined the airforce, and is now working on his Masters degree. Our youngest daughter has not done either at this point. I have found that you can take a great kid and if left unlone unsupervised and in the company of just one kid who will pull the envelop as they say to it deepest depth, so will this great kid. I believe kids are influenced by their environment both at home and at the schools.... this is a subject that needs national attention just as much as health care does. Jayne I am so sorry that you and your three children are going through this. How is Bill holding up through all of this. The stress will not be good for him.... keep him away from it as much as you can. This stress is not good for any of you... my prayers are with you jayne... give the kids all a hug from me ok.... love Red

RE: Spawns of the devil
That is just some scary stories, Jayne what you said makes alot of sense. Kids dont need to be yelled at ( in most cases ) they need adults around to give direction and simply showing kids what being in public with responsable behavor is about. Now it's sad but truely I see more kids alone and even more now with the economy. Both parents working thier tales off to try to survive..... I my self and my wife work some really weird hours and are gone more than I would like. My son is almost 16 he is old enough to know better but I still try to have him by someone resposable............................

Jayne................ Now I believe you said before that if you were my wife you would hand my balls to me on a paper plate and also you are very good at casterating pigs.... With that in mind I would liked to have been there when that mother offended you and even more so if there would have been nobody around to witness it....................LOL. I know my wife would have knocked her out dead on her tracks for that.............

Take care Jayne, hope Bills doing good and have a great time...............Bronco

RE: Spawns of the devil
Please,Please,Please, don't think of Me as a Socialist when I Say this, but I have to: I Believe that every Child Growing Up should have to be a Part of Some Group, 4-H, Boy/Girl Scouts, some type of Program that will Help them Learn Respect, and Politeness, Parents are too Busy Today trying to Out do Their Neighbor, and not Paying Attention to Their Kids!! And I watched this just this Year with Little League and Wyatt, and My Son also Played Foot Ball for 9 Years, and My Daughter was in Dance and Basketball, that these Poor Kids are not the One's thought about in Sports Today, it's about the Parents, and the Fighting and Arguing they do in the Stands with Each Other!! If You have ever been to a Game, You will know what I Mean by that!! Wyatt's Team was in the Last 2 Games of the Play-Offs this Year, and it was a Double-Header Against the Team from Smithton, at Their Field. Wyatt and His Team Won the First Game 12-2, and Some of the Parents got so Mad They Had Lost so Badly they took Their Kids Home, and there wasn't Enough Players for the 2nd Game, which would have given Wyatt's Team the Championship had they Won. The Smithton Team Forfeited due to not enough Players, and they were Tied with Sutersville in the Records, and had they Won the Second Game Wyatt's Team would have been the Champs! The Board said since Smithton Forfeited, and Sutersville had Tied Wyatt's Team, and the Last Game Could not be Counted because they didn't Play it, Wyatt's Team due to NO Fault of Their Own, Lost the Championship, and they Awarded it to Sutersville, who by the Way had the President of the League as a Coach!! Is that Any Way to Teach Kids???Wink

RE: Spawns of the devil
no its not.........and Bronco I could have taken her........no contest she could barely stand alone....But it wouldnt have given the example I want my kids to have......that just speaking to someone should fix most everything.....However my kids came away with a better understanding of what bad kids are like and they dont wanna be one of those.......and since I quit drinking and smoking the need for fighting dont come so easy anymore........lol

Bummer most we met were kind and loving and helpful....it was 3 teams that were so bad and the blame for that lies solely on their parents and coaches...I would be so very angry if these were my kids and I thought the coach and parents that went along didnt watch them.......I have always been a parent that went along on all overnites and some day trips....I know now I will be a parent that goes along on every trip now.........

RE: Spawns of the devil
Jayne, they sound no worse than the ladies on my last Women's Retreat. (Just Kidding) We were a little more respectful and paid for the damages!

Unless parents take responsiblity for their children's actions, then make them responsible by some form of punishment, they will never learn. Blame the parents and the irresponsible coaches.

Let Go, and Let God......
