4-H Fair Time

RE: 4-H Fair Time
Yes, it is expensive to have a pig in 4-H.
Past years the pig pens were full, many times 2 pigs to a pen.
This year half the pens are empty. Families can not afford to raise a 4-H pig.

I do see lots of meat goats this year, not as expensive.

Everyone in the family except me eats pork.
I do not eat meat.

RE: 4-H Fair Time
I wanted to give an update on the fair & auction.

Tuesday morning my daughter was gathering items to take to the fair from the barn.
She hit her head and was knocked unconscious, I believe she was out only a few minutes. I found her when she didn't return to her truck.

She is one tough girl, we went to the fwir ground later that morning and my 3 feed & watered the pigs. Tuesday night my daughter was sick at her tummy with a bad headache so I took her to ER. She has a CT scan and was checked out by the doctor, given pain meds and meds to settle the tummy. We got home about 4:30 Wednesday morning.

Wednesday morning I took the youngest 2 to the fair to feed, water, & wash the pigs while my daughter slept in.

Wednesday evening was the auction. All 3 of mine showed their pigs and did well in the auction. My son was sooooo over stimulated from the noise & crowd!

Thursday morning we were at the fair grounds at 7:00 A.M. it was time to clean up the fair grounds. All the pens had to be raked, with the old stuff hauled off and new graved added to each pen. I made sure everyone had plenty of water drink, since I am unable to do the physical work.

We got home at !:30 in the afternoon. Today we are making cookie baskets for the buyers of the pigs and delivering the baskets and buyers ribbons.

I am one tired girl, now to catch up on housework & laundry.
