more questions needing answers
State of Iowa

Hi everyone. I finally had my MRI on Friday, July 10th. The first one that was scheduled on Tuesday, July 7th the MRI malfunctioned and broke, meaning I had to reschedule and go in again on Friday. All went well, I guess, anyway. They will have the results on Monday or Tuesday or maybe will wait to tell me the results at my next WC doctor appointment on Wednesday. When I was talking with my Occupational therapist she told me some information that was very disturbing to me. She said that she had a MRI at this same hospital earlier this past year (not WC related) and when she took it to her neurosurgeon he was upset because the hospital had read it completely wrong! How do I know if I can trust their opinon of how they read the findings? Should I get a second opinion right away? If I want to get a second opinion, do I have to go through WC to get that and go with their chosen doctors of choices?
Let's face it we only get one body, and my neck and is what is injured, I really don't want to get screwed over and have this pain the rest of my life if they can't read the findings correctly.

Please help any way that you can.
Nanci

RE: more questions needing answers
you can get a second opinion anytime you like......you may however have to pay for it yourself..........I have had several MRIs and my Doc and the WC Doc read them 2 different ways..it was left up to the judge and she chose another Doc when he agreed with mine it was 2 agaist one

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: more questions needing answers
My Case is in Pa., and when My MRI Reports were entered as Evidence, they were taken as Hearsay, because the Radiologists that Read the Reports can look at them in Many Different Ways. That's why the Actual MRI Films or Cd if they are that Version, is Sent to Your Dr. with the Report, and the Dr.makes Their Own Interpretation of the Injuries, if any. If after that, You are not Happy or Disagree with the Results, You May Request a Second Opinion, and the Courts Usually allow at Least One Second Opinion. If You have to go that Route though, I would Strongly Urge You to Retain Counsel that Deals with w/c, because the w/c System is Full of Loop Holes and Pitfalls, and You need Someone to Help You Navigate the System. In My Situation such as Jayne's, I had Second Opinions Done, had a Surgery that Failed, had 9 different Surgeons, (Both Ortho. and Neuro.) look at Me for a Second Surgery, and when it was found that I am Inoperable, was Referred to a Pm Dr., and when My Case was Tried, and the Judge Ruled, They Ruled My Dr. as being More Credible, and the Ins. Co. Dr.'s reports were Invalid! As You can See, it can get Very Involved, or as in about 80% of the Cases things May go Smoothly for You, and You will be Healed and Back to Work!! I Wish the Latter for You!! Best of Luck!!Wink

Failed Back Surgery, Chronic Pain, Totally Disabled.

Knowledge is Power, Especially in the World of w/c. Learn as Much as You can about Your States w/c Laws, and don't Fight Battles alone, They Use Attorney's, and so Should You!!
