What are you doing for the 4th?
The July 4th holiday has always been one of my favorites.

My father worked as a machinist for one of the large aircraft plants in Wichita and the first two week of July the plant shut down.

My family ran a fireworks stand during this time. The cracker box as the stand was known was well known by the community, my father continued running this stand for 20 years.

I wanted to start this thread and share what my family will be doing over the 4th and hope others on the forum will also share what their families will be doing.

.....
Friday will be our family celebration; members of the family will get together at our country home for supper.

Our neighbor on the hill always has a large firework show with professionals that come in sets up, and shoot off the fireworks. We are able to view the show from the deck off our home.

Saturday I am going to the horse races in a near by town. I love going to the races but this will be my last time at this track as it is closing down. There is a chance the track will reopen in future years, if we get slots at tracks.

RE: What are you doing for the 4th?
My family and friends are all coming over to enjoy a cookout/sleepover and hubby just went out and bought a ton of fireworks to shoot off our hill. Now that we do not have any trees around the house , we have a perfect view of the mountains off the wrap around deck.

We will have a few campfires around the home and if it ever stops raining we will be able to sit outside and enjoy the day/evening. It has been raining ( pouring ) for at least 2 weeks now and it is getting very depressing. Sat. the sun is suppose to come out with temps. in the high 70's and possible rain later that evening. Pray that the sun stays out.

I am also awaiting the arrival of my new grandson that is due on the 4th. My daughter went to the doctors today and she is 2 centimeters, but she is still to soft to deliver. Maybe he will come in with a BANG!!! Grandpa is ready to celebrate with fireworks and welcome Alex into the world.I wish everyone a safe and Happy 4th.

Will hang my Flag , and then sit back and relax, No plans.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.
It's about learning to dance in the rain.

No plans here either. A garage sale that morning if i feel better. Should be doing the garage sale thing tomorrow but hurting to badly to move things out at this point.

I'll probably sit on my roof and watch the fireworks. They set them off at the high school here which is only about 1 mile from me so I have a great view from the roof!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful time!!!

RE: What are you doing for the 4th?
Im gonna blow thing up in a big way this year,im sure some of the older people around wont care for my show this year. But most like the show I put on and have called and asked if I was doing this year.I get my stuff dirt cheap and they are good fire works, like brothers, pyro and so on.I got some this year that have 3 1/2 inch shells and they make a big boom, one guy said he felt it in his garage floor a couple days ago and he lives a ways down the road, can wait.Be safe all and enjoy.

Each day is not a rite,it's a given.
