done withWC--but now I need STD
I was injured at work--kicked in the knee in Nov.,and ended up having knee surgery in March--my knee Dr. ok'd me to return to work--but my back Dr. has me off work till after my back surgery------------the minute my job was faxed that I would need another 6-8 weeks off my boss calls me and said-she would be posting my position--now I don't think I'm eligable for STd, I don't have a job--and when I'm ok to return to work I have to apply for my job back--IF there are job openings--I'm a nurse, I've worked for this company/hospital for 33 years. Plus I would have to get insurance thru cobra--help--any suggestions/words would be appreciated.

some states have rehabilitation and/or re-employment benefits if the injury leaves you with permanent restrictions that prevent you from the same career.
Other states have disability payments that include post-injury earings loss.
contact your states unemployment office. sometimes the rate is based on when you apply not when you start receiving and it may be higher now then it will be after surgery.

You should get familiar with your states work comp rules and you do have some ADA rights to reasonable accommodation
