RE: My job is making me crazy/boss harrassing me
thank you for the info. i have heard of unions not really protecting the employee. i think i will start looking for attorneys. i have begged the union to help me move positions. id actually just like to leave the employer, but i have not had any luck with any call backs on applications. at least i can try to do something and try to take back my life from her.
thanks to everyone who has shred their stories and given me advice! i appreciate it more than you probably know!

Still in Limbo Wrote:Hi Buckeyegirl, and Welcome to the Forum!! I didn't Read all of the Responses to You, but I read a Couple of Yours, and I May have an Avenue You can take, Hopefully that will Start You on the Right Path. Psych. Claims under Most w/c Systems are tough, as others have told You, but You have an Ace in a Hole, Your Union! Go to Your Union Rep., and if You can't get any Satisfaction from Them, (Sometimes Union Reps. and Employers get Chummy, and don't always keep the Employee in Mind) Call Your National Office. Request an Appointment with a Psychologist to Ascertain whether Your Manager and Work are Causing You Problems that would make You Eligible for Workers Compensation, or if Administrative Action by Your Employer can Make Your Job less Stressful, and Use Your Journals, E-Mails, and so forth as Evidence. If they Deny You this Request, ask for it in Writing, and go to a Psychologist of Your Choice. (You may have to Pay for this) You are going to have to get Professional Medical Evidence to have a Better Chance at either Receiving w/c Benefits, or a change in Your Work Environment, and it must come from the Profession of Your Medical Condition. If You can Receive this, I would Suggest You ask to Apply for w/c or a Position Change, and if after all of this, You are still Denied, Consider an Attorney to Help You along! This is the Path I would Follow if in a Situation such as Yours, Cross Your T's, Dot Your I's and Force them to Make a Move!! Plus with a Goal to Work Towards, You May Actually Start to Feel a Bit Better because You have a Goal to Achieve, I know I always Feel Better when I am doing Something that May Improve Myself or My Family! Best of Luck!!Wink

Toungue RE: My job is making me crazy/boss harrassing me
I went through that crap where I worked with the disabiled. As if the job needs anymore stress. People can be very petty. I hung on for 4yrs, heart surgery stepped in and made some decisions for me.
Soon afterwards I also had a mini stroke. I had to change careers, but a couple of years back I saw my old supervisor. She had had a full stroke and was never the same. Dont let a mental health dx scare you into a medical nightmare. No job on this earth is worth a life long spiral. Be strong, be smart, let life deal with them in its own terms. Bernie57

RE: My job is making me crazy/boss harrassing me
Thank you Bernie! I am finally starting to feel like I am gaining more control over my own life. Partly with the information and compassion I have received on this website.
I am currently searching for an attorney, and I am continuing to search for a new job.
It is definitely not worth letting it make me crazy, but I do need a job. So I am just hoping and praying that something comes along soon!
Thank you!

It's probably going to be extremely difficult to get this covered under WC. In Ohio, "stress" is not covered unless caused by a physical injury:

4123.01© "Injury" includes any injury, whether caused by external accidental means or accidental in character and result, received in the course of, and arising out of, the injured employee's employment. "Injury" does not include:

(1) psychiatric conditions except where the conditions have arisen from an injury or occupational disease;

Kate not to disagree but to ask a question....is this fairly normal U.S. wide? Is this why so many "break" and go postal? Now my Boss here was a good one but his was a "buttock" and caused many a problem my boss was a lawyer and still couldnt get him fired only relocated to cause trouble for someone else.....is there a good way to handle this type of superviser other than quitting or blowing up the joint?

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: My job is making me crazy/boss harrassing me
There are some states that cover stress/psych issues without a physical injury (I believe CA is one of them) but the majority require a physical injury to cover anything like that.

As far as dealing with an impossible boss, that's hard to say. Every company handles things differently. You can complain to someone higher up but that can always backfire. Wish I had an answer to that. I've been there before myself!
