Hello Forum Family,
As you all know I have been having severe problems with my shoulder. My diagnosis is Biceps Tendnosis, severe case. The last couple of day I started having this paralysis like feeling in the front part of my shoulder. I feel it when I move it at times and when I touch it with my hand I know I am touching it but I cannot feel the touch on my skin. Has anyone with shoulder problems ever experienced this? If so, could you share what your experience was and what your outcome of this problem was for you? Thanks in advance. Take care and God Bless! RE: Question for People With Shoulder Problems
Biceps Tendinitis: some articles dealing with this issue
http://www.emedicine.com/pmr/topic16.htm http://patients.uptodate.com/topic.asp?f...e_joi/6721 http://www.emedicine.com/sports/topic11.htm http://www.leadtheway.ca/biceps_tendinitis.htm If you go to PT for this you can ask for Ultrasound treatments, which are known to help aleviate some of the associated problems. Sometimes when you are pinching a tendon over and over again, it seems to cause numbness in the area. The body is just trying to avoid the constant pain signals. If it continues for a while, or gets worse, time to see a doc! Avatar thanks to WINK! |

RE: Question for People With Shoulder Problems
Hello MJC
As you know I've been going to PT for my neck and shoulders as well. At PT they have been giving me ultrasound on both shoulders. I have also had laser treatments which I believe are 2 different things. If I remember right the PT told me that the ultrasound targets the soft tissue to reduce the inflammation. I would be lying if I told you I thought they made a difference in my pain. But it is absolutely worth trying. Good luck and Be well Ps. I'm still working (2 weeks now!) Take Care and Be Well Tom |

RE: Question for People With Shoulder Problems
From what I have read and believe me it's alot , ultrasound is supposed to be the best remedy for some of our problems. In my case I have frozen shoulder right now after having surgery and the surgeon thinks I also have a Brachial plexus injury. I have asked PT for 8 weeks to try ultrasound and they won't. No explanation, now answer . Just ignored. When I go back next week I am demanding that they at least try. What's the harm in trying, I'm not getting better but worse with what they have been doing. Just disgusted.

Thanks everyone for your responses.
Dipweed, Thanks for the websites. The Emedicine site has more info that what I have been able to find and it is informative. I viewed all of them and will still be looking at them again and again. Thanks for your help, it is deeply appreciated. Cap, I do think when I start PT that ultrasound will be one of the treatments I will be getting. Not sure what else. Thanks for your help, deeply appreciated and I hope you feel better soon yourself. TPM, Great hearing from you my friend! I wish you could have told me that the ultrasound and laser were helping you to where you could tell a difference. Congratulations on 2 weeks of working now. Please, Please just continue to be careful friend. Take care and God Bless all of you! RE: Question for People With Shoulder Problems
Speaking of shoulder problems....
Just came from a workers comp hearing. I find out they don't want to accept my right shoulder injury claim because they can't determine it was caused by my initial fall. (only L shoulder and neck was listed) Meanwhile the pain went from my left shoulder and neck into my right shoulder 2 months afterwards while getting PT (mechanical traction!) Now I have a fight on my hands and it will be one in which I will win. You would think my attorney would have given me a heads up about this. First time hearing of this and the Judge or whoever she was didn't seem to care. Somehow my doctor stated it was a "work" related issue and the WC Judge didn't feel he was talking about my vol. fire fighter position even though that is exactly what it is. For this I had to miss a days pay! It's not over YET!!! Take Care and Be Well Tom |
