RE: Can they do this??
Wow thats all I can say, but nobody called me tell me this was going on. This is better then the offroad races I went to today, and cheaper......lol..

teri66.
I feel for you I wont bash you, but I will say I have read the post and think in my oppinion they were trying to help you. Now from time to time I open my mouth and do say/type things that well just is not really what I expected to sound like. But we have people on here from maybe a broken finger to well just looking for another day with low pain that will never get better and dont walk, you name it it's here. But 1 thing is we are all injured, and look through the many old post and you will see just how great the site and people are here. And you will see there is really never this kind of conflict/ this bad. But if there was a chance that maybe you over reacted or even mis understood when some 1 was trying to help. Just please slow down count to 10 well maybe 100 and think about it.

Pain is a factor for many here and I hope yours gets figured out...................

Bronco,
I am not bashing you either but I don't see how you can read a post saying that a sprain is bad only because its a WC is trying to help...That is insulting and degrading to me, and my intergerity. Maybe there are some that will use a injury and milk the system, but trust me I am not one. 6 months before I fell, I was sitting in my bus at a red light, and got slammed by a Semi. Everyone tried and are still trying to get me to sue the SEMI and my company, But I wasn't injured, a few nicks and cuts, bruises and aches, But I recovered after a few days. I hate not working. So to suggest that I am using my wrist to collect peanuts is VERY INSULTING, and I will not appologize for my beliefs.

RE: Can they do this??
Teri,I am very upset and on edge today,my husband of nearly 40 years is having a quad heart bypass today but for some reason I just cant let this go.....As in life you know there are different people with different personalitys and different variances of humor...on here most of us have a semi sick sense of humor we have to have it to survive the WC system...no one accused you of faking and I am sorry you took it that way.....But damn near every one of us have by the insurance company, their Doctors and lawyers....some of us are in or nearly in wheelchairs from back and neck injuries that keep us in constant pain or take away our abilty to walk without falling.....now you are a bit sensitive about your injury so I am taking it that you have taken a bit of heat by the system and you came here looking for comfort.....wrong area that is the "off topic" area where you will find a more "living room" area of the forum...this side is "just the facts" and the sooner you accept that WC and the system looks at you only as a number and a "this injury takes this long and a day longer than that your a faker" the better you will be able to fight for what is due you....some on here Bad boy and Limbo for 2 have been fighting for over 5 years being called everything under the sun except human...is it fair nope it isnt but its a fact......as far as your intergerity boy howdy thats gonna take a beating along with your credit rating and your self esteam...unless you have a spouse making enough money to see you threw..many on here have lost everything including their homes fighting this system...now to your sprain...WC says 2-4 weeks and presto your well as we all know different injurys take longer but your case manager is gonna start trying to take your piddley little WC check because your sprain according to there book only takes this long....
I too had a sprained back according to them it took a year to fight them and then I only won because my husband was retired military and their insurance took over and forsed them to fix my cervical injuries a fusion of c4-5 and c5-6 after a long fight they also found 3 ruptured disks in my lower back after the judge sent me to her choice of a doc...this took 2 long years of no money from the WC....and it was according to wc a "sprain"that is why the only on WC came in on your post.......
Again welcome and if you find "just the facts" a bit much to take at first try the off topics its a bit easier to merge into and get to know the others quirks......you have found the best place on earth to help you navigate the system we will hold you up in prayer and answer your questions to the best of our abilitys but we are not Docs as far as I know non of us are.... there are plenty of nurses on this forum.... a few lawyers and a couple of WC adjusters.....and the rest of us from all walks of life....most of us had never had our honesty or integrety questioned till we became a case number for WC and didnt get well as fast as they thought we should...again welcome and if you need to scream and shout we will listen to you do that also only we preface the topic with "I just have to vent" we do what we gotta do and go on.....jayne

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: Can they do this??
Great post Jayne. I also think that just like all of us when first injured were very upset to be out of a job we loved and worked so hard to keep and then one day it is like we are punished for getting injured. I can understand terri getting upset and the comment that cycler put in there put her over the edge. She has not been here to see we are serious and sometimes make jokes every now and then and I think it was a innocent mistake on her part to get upset over that comment.

I am not saying she has the right to attack people but until one comes here and gets to know us they have no idea we are very concerned about everyone's injury and will do anything to help. Terri you will feel angry time to time by how the system will treat you and it is understandable to feel that way. The WC can give a ...about what happened to you and how broke you get during your recovery. Also the way your employer and co-workers will treat you will be awful and hurtful and some may even call you a " fake" as many on here have been called. People think we get WC and become rich on it. NOT!!!

I also have a bad dominant hand which forced me to give up my career. I can truely understand your pain and anger right now of how your employer is treating you and how you so badly want to still work and cannot get anywhere with them to do so. Please know we are not a bad bunch of people and really everyone is here to help.

I have seen first hand the people on here how they would give the shirts off their backs to help. You may want to start checking into some legal help to relieve some of the stress you will be going through with denying treatments, meds etc. You have just began this long road and it will only get worse. Try to remain calm and take one day at a time.

Jayne I am thinking about you and hubby today. I will say a prayer that all goes well. Please keep us up to date on his recovery : )

RE: Can they do this??
...and another thing Terri, you've missed the most salient point of a number of posts which is that if you are still not recovered from a wrist "sprain" this far out from the date of injury then there is something else going on; i.e TFCC ligament tear, Navicular injury, UCL injury etc., etc. Sure we may joke about it some but good advice has come your way. Look at it this way. If you were a 20 million dollar ball player would your medical care to date been the same ? If not then the good news is that comp doesn't make the distinction and all that is open to you IF and only IF a Dr. makes the first move, it is not a pro-active system. Me, I'm not a big fan of the type of medical care foisted on IW's by many of the Drs who work in the comp system but that's only my personal bias. Your milage may vary.

RE: Can they do this??
Terri,

Possibly, if you were more detailed about your injury in your original post, you may have gotten some sympathy. We are all well aware of the starvation factor....as most of us have been through it. Please don't get upset and nasty with our people.....you, certainly being a nurse, exposes you to a wide range of personalities, and bad attitudes. Is this why you are driving a bus and not nursing anymore? An attitude problem ?
Although, I must say...I did, get a snicker out of the "pie hole" comment. Sorry Cycler...I did snicker, even though your answer was a bit harsh, and presumptuous....and terries reply was a lil brash too. I just wonder where one's pie hole is located!! LOL

Terri...have you had any xrays of your wrist with dye? I once had a hairline fracture of the wrist that didn't show on xray....I was treated as if it were a sprain and the treatments did not relieve the pain, it made it worse. It never got any better until it was casted and treated as a break.

My prayers go up for you, that God helps your wrist, AND your attitude problems with some much needed maturity.
Lilly

Teri, I do not have time to go cleaning up the posts that contain your foul language. Conduct yourself appropriately here or look elsewhere.

Wow, and with your extraordinarily pleasant personality, you must have one heck of a bedside manner! I think I know why you are now driving a bus.

Lilly,

If you read the beginning of my my post I stated that I posted before, which was my original Post. Which describes my injury, what am I suppose to go through the whole spill everytime I post on your board? Sympathy? Hmmm that is something I did not come to this board for..More like I came to get the facts, but got insults.
Attitude Problems??? LoL I don't need to explain myself to you as to why Im no longer in Nursing, but let me say this, If I had a nasty attitude Nursing was and is not the profession to be in..It takes compansion for another to even consider Nursing..I left Nursing because My father had just passed away and it was mentally draining to be with others like him, Every day of the week.
Maturity is a big word. And it comes with Responsibilty on everyone's part, not just one person. And attacking one's Maturity or what another think's is Mature is whole nother ball game, so walk lightly when you attempt to put those words out there ok.
