RE: Pictures of animals
Tuffy, You asked for it, now your gonna get it!! I have somewhere around 20 horses(mostly boarders, i own 5 myself), 10 dogs, umpteen cats, 15 sheep, 3 Llamas, 3 goats, 3 cockatiels, 2 lovebirds and a bunch of chickens.About 90% of these animals are rescues, we actually bought 1 dog as "our" pet,the rest were aqquired through my wife being an animal control officer and a vet tech. When the town decided a dog needed to be put down cause they would not pay to feed it any longer, we would either adopt it ourselves or find a good home for it.My wife is responsible for saving the lives of hundreds of animals, large and small. It's raining here today (that's why I'm setting at the puter) but when the rain lets up, I'll start snapping pics!!I will try to give a short story on each animals fate and future (I think all futures are right here with us) We are suckers for a homeless animal.

RE: Pictures of animals
I am so proud to know that there are other animal lovers out there. I have had many over the years and just lost one of my cats about 3 years ago He had a heart condition and could not be saved. I have been thinking of adopting another animal, Cat/Dog in the near future. How far are you from me??? I live in Illinois.

RE: Pictures of animals
I'm In Mass.,We have actually driven to Ohio to pick-up dogs that were set to be euthanized at a certain time. We have a connection in Ohio and if we had or thought we could find a home for an animal, we would western union a "stop-kill" payment to hold the dog till someone could get there to save it.There is actually a whole group of volunteers around this great country that set-up animal transports, I myself have gone to penns. to pickup a group of rescue dogs and taken them to Vermont to meet the next "leg".We have gotten people rescue dogs from as far away as Texas and had them here in New England in 48 hours thanks to the volunteers. If you can afford to burn a days worth of gas, you'll feel really good at the end of the day, knowing that you took part in saving a life. Petfinder.com is where we got hooked into rescue and met a lot of good people. We do not have any animals that are looking for homes right now( some were, but after they live here for a while they become family) but if you do some searching on the web and find a rescue animal you would like to adopt, I'll get my wife involved. What we used to do is if the animal turned out to not be right for you, we would take it at our house and try to find the right home for it. It was kind of a gaurantee that if you for whatever reason you did not LOVE this animal, you were'nt "stuck" with it.Fortunately, almost everyone loved them!!

Good grief Fencer,

Those aren't pets...you're running the local zoo ~LOL~.

I had a friend back when I lived in MI, that we always said ran the local zoo. She was a wonderful woman from Yugoslavia, who when we met could hardly speak english. Through my friendship with her, over the next 5 years, she became quite fluent, and adopted all my kids. She had sheep, goats, 1 dog, at last count 35 cats (many were barn cats) geese, turkeys and best of all ostrichs' ( I could see them outside my front window and loved to watch them spin in circles and dance). She and her husband (who was from Czechoslavakia, had a way with animals. I have never before seen an ostrich that would lay it's head on a human shoulder and almost look like it was giving a hug.. but these ostrich's did with the man. And the tom turkeys would come up between her legs and rub on them as a dog would. It just simply amazed me. I truly miss their friendship. Tragically, he was killed in an 8 car collision, (in which he was trapped inside his car when it exploded, and witnesses stated that he was still very much alive), somewhere in Chicago shortly after I left MI in 1997 and she eventually sold the property and moved to their rental property in Chicago. I then lost touch with her.

I only have my little Binkers, who just turned 11 the 15th. When he passes, there will be no more animals for me. There is no way that any other animal could give me the complete love and devotion that he has since I saved him from the pound 6 years ago. A part of me will go with him when that day comes.

I will, when I figure out all the gobbeldy gook related to Dl'ing pics from my cam, to the puter, to a photo storage sight online.. show you pics of this lil varmint that stole my heart.

Angel ^j^

I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane.

RE: Pictures of animals
O.K., i have some pics on my computer, but being computer illiterate, I don't know how to move them over to here. Yes UA, we do operate a zoo here, my friends down the road have camels and yaks and all kinds of exotic birds. Some people think we should join forces and have our own "petting farm". They are open to the public and take donations to try to keep afloat, but donations are not what they used to be and they are suffering. Fortunately, her mom is very wealthy and has said she will make sure the animals eat, but your vacations are over!! So if someone can tell me how to post my pics, I'll start with the horses. Thanks
