Still in Limbo Wrote:Hi folks, I hope everyone is well today. Let me run down my Meds. for you, they haven't been changed in a while, and recently I have had ringing in my ears that is actually driving me crazy!!

MS Contin ER- 200mg. every 8 hrs.
Neurontin 600mg.- every 8 hrs., 1200mg. at bedtime.
Klonopin 1mg.- at bedtime to help with sleep
MS Contin IR- 30mg. as needed for breakthrough.
Promethyzine- 25mg. every 8hrs. for nausea.
Lactulose 30mg.- once daily for constipation.

Has anyone had this problem? The ringing in my ears seems to be getting louder, it started out sounding like crickets and now is a steady ringing. Any thoughts or assistance would be greatly appreciated and Thanks in advance for any replies!Wink

When I was on neurontin, I had ringing in my ears! You sure are on a high dose, I only got up to 900mg...then they took me off of it because I was having memory problems! That stuff is evil for me at least for others it seems to work!

RE: Excessive Ringing in My Ears!
Thanks again for the replies folks. I awoke yesterday and It seemed better. (I Actually got about 6 hrs. sleep, first in a long while) and didn't call for an appt. It's 4:37 a.m. right now and it's louder than ever again. I'm going to have to call Today, and will let you all know what the "Good 'ol Doc." has to say. I still see an old country Dr., he's pretty good and easy to get an appt. with. Will keep you informed!!Big Grin

RE: Excessive Ringing in My Ears!
STill got to love those country docs that are easy to get appointments with.

However, don't be surprised if you are referred to an ENT.

Driller has had ringing in the ears constantly since his surgery - an allergic reaction from the anesthesia caused it. At least his dizzy spells have pretty much subsided.

Mine started with the neurotin like some of the others - however, when I went off the meds, it didn't stop. They aren't sure why - if it was the repeat trauma to the shoulder/neck area or what exactly. Some days are better than others - And some days no matter how loud the tv is seems can't drown out the ringing - if you call it ringing it my case it's a high pitch whistle sound.

I do pray that they find out what is causing yours, and that you don't have to suffer with this for a long time.

RE: Excessive Ringing in My Ears!
A year ago I went to the "Ear" doc for ringing in my ears and upon examination he discovered I had permanent damage. No doubt this was from a bicycle tire that blew up in my face some 12 to 15 years ago. At first I thought it was from the meds or the nerves pinching in my neck (?) but a visit to the specialist resolved all my questions. For me was the only option was to get hearing aids for both ears which should help in lessening the ringing and all the other noises coming from my head. For now I'll live with it the way it is.
Go see a Doctor!

RE: Excessive Ringing in My Ears!
Jayne, what the heck are ear wax candles? I don't have much hair left and I don't want to burn it all off my head!!! The ringing started as sounding like crickets and very low, now it's a steady ring and varies in loudness. Doc is in tomorrow, Thursday is his hospital day. I'll go see him in the evening and find out whats up. Thanks again for the replies!!!Tongue

RE: Excessive Ringing in My Ears!
A friend of mine used candles as I watched (don't think the candles were for the ears however. just ordinary household candles). I was amazed how much wax was sucked out of the ear.
Gross but amazing Big Grin Definitely works
