RE: Am I being blacklisted
I've assisted with those surgeries, they are high risk. They rate surgeries on a scale of 1 thru 8, cervical fusion is rated as a 7. Removal of hardware whether it's lumbar or cervical is rated as an 8.
Several things go into consideration, position of patient, possible compromise of airway, blood loss, arteries, veins, nerves in the area, quality of bone in the area. Before any hardware is ever removed after a fusion doctors spend a great deal of time looking over old records as per the quality of the bone. I guess I always look at surgeries by this rating, years working in surgery does that to you. |

RE: Am I being blacklisted
well, I'm in Michigan, i had voc rehab, was denied retraining (I assume my age was a big factor, too old) am on SSD, applied for a couple hundred jobs....had two measley interviews of which I was not hired. I have other major med problems that are obvious, and some not obvious, besides my injured shoulder....blacklisted ??, more than likely .
There is SOMETHING not allowing me to be hired anywhere. It's certainly NOT work experience, nor the lack of trying. It s u c k s in reality. Lilly Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!! A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless! |

RE: Am I being blacklisted
If there was some way to deal with the pain I would try anything right this minute. Problem is, as with most of the meds I take, they knock me silly. More than likely I would be locked up for drunk and disorderly. I am soon to be 56. I guess that will be against me as well. There is so much I can do in psychiatry...my field of expertise...that does not require me to do any lifting etc. But I need those few extra classes to cinch it. I am sick of being on w/c, and I don't have enough social security built up in this country to account for anything much....maybe even nothing. But I guess I had better start looking at that. My neighbour told me I could claim unemployment along with w/c, but I don't think that can be right. I don't even qualify for food stamps....a few dollars too much. The idea of living the rest of my life in this situation is beyond my imagination.
Anyone know of a cute rich man??????? |

RE: Am I being blacklisted
I know how you feel, I was released to work in June with a bad limp, need a cane, etc. Now those restrictions are back. I put out over 100 aps, received one interview and when I got up to leave that interview my knee buckled. The interview had gone very well up to that point, they were going to call me to come back for my lab work. They never called.
I'd make just under $800. a month under SSDI, not enough to live on. Not if I was alone, paying rent, food, utilities, etc. I want to work, I can work, especially if I get my body fixed. But when it takes months and years to get that done we definitely can't find work. BB |

RE: Am I being blacklisted
Its funny. I was discussing this forum with a police man that I know in Nevada. He was astonished that such things could happen here in America. He said we should all raise up and make our voices heard. I have no idea how we would do that!!!!! But it really is amazing that people truly believe that everything is in place to take care of employees who have been hurt at work. Then I recently had a discussion with a person I will not mention...just in case....and she told me that people like her and her husband work hard at their jobs and pay out huge amounts to insurance companies to cover for those of the likes of us. Of course she then said she didn't mean me....but honestly. It would be interesting to see what people REALLY think when you mention an injured worker and workers compensation. I wonder if in the back of their mind they think we are all milking the system.

RE: Am I being blacklisted
Alot of the doctors certainly think we're trying to milk the system. You know I had a job where I made a difference in people's lives, I'd love to do that again. I was dedicated and hard working, can you really say that about alot of young people today? I don't think so.
The work comp system, the delays, the denials, a sample of what Obama care will be like. BB |

RE: Am I being blacklisted
Bodybuilder...do you have private health insurance? Do you pay for it yourself? Do you mind if I ask how much your premiums and co-pays are? Since My husband's premiums and co-pays just doubled I am curious as to what exactly Obama's care is since I'm not seeing too much other than congress and the senate arguing and the Democrats and Republicans refusing to compromise to help the blue collar worker. If you wouldn't mind explaining his care and where you got your info so I can look for further info there I would really appreciate it. Thanks a million.
God is never late. In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years. |

RE: Am I being blacklisted
bagpussinamerica, I too am a psychiatric nurse, you might not need to take extra classed. You can call the board of nursing and see if you can challange the NCLEX. That is how most nurses from overseas deal with the differences in education. I am sur that you a quilified as an RN. You would need to find a nurse that is willing to sign off on everything you do, while you study for the NCLEX. You can buy books and online programs to study for the test it is all done on the computer at a testing center. If been working in psych, for a few years you will need to brush up on general nursing skills and medications. I know that some surgery techs here in the states have even taken the NCLEX without full RN or BSN schooling. If you have contacted the Board of nursing allready they might think that you want to work as a BSN, you can still work as an RN while you take classes towards your BSN. You can also get a provisional liceance, or take the NCLEX for LPN and work while you take classes. If you need help just PM me.
I am sure your training is as good as ours and in some areas better. I worked on a provisional Liceance in New Zealand. |

RE: Am I being blacklisted
BB, One of my best friends (of 50 years) seems to think it must be nice to be able to stay home and get paid!! I was so furious when she said this to me....if I could have reached through the IM....she'd have been decked with a hard right!
I could not believe this came out of her mouth! I offered her my bum arm, all the meds, the continual pain, sleeping on the sofa, the joint & trigger point injections bla bla bla...if I could only trade places with her! I'd love to go back to work as I once was....she did not want to trade lives....but I do believe that most working or non injured people have this same "picture" in their minds, about us WC people! Little do they know, half of us are NOT getting paid, NOT getting the needed medical, loosing their homes, go broke etc. It just ticks me off there is such a mind set, in the people who've never walked a mile in our shoes! Lilly Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!! A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless! |
