I have another appt. in 2 weeks its like my 5th IME. I won the medical part with at the labor board and then the sent me to another eval. My doctor put me at 24% impairment and the IME doc. put me at 0% actually all the IME docs did that but the labor board was in my favor of me for medical and partial impairment. so now I have a lawyer and we are trying to settle. I am still working at the same job light duty 7 hour day instead of 8. I keep reading that I can bring someone with me to the exam. I did the first time and that is the time I won for medical, because I had a witness. The next time the doctor stated I was not allowed to have anyone in the office with me. I live NH just to let you know in case the law is diff everywhere. So should I just bring someone to the exam and refuse if they do not let me take him in with me or what.

I think that the Dr. can not tell you you can't bring someone in with you.They may not like it, but too bad for them. Maybe I'm wrong and I'm sure someone else will chime in, but I'm pretty sure that you have the right to have someone go in with you.

i know in ny we have the right to bring someone it should say it on the letter they send you that gives the date time and place you are to go

In the past 2 1/2 years, I had about 11 IME's, two of them Pshychiatrist evaluation. They were the only ones where my daughter wasn't allowed into the examining room.

I've had 2 IME's, Neither a Psych. Review, and I had No Problem having Someone in the Room with Me. Now if You have a Nurse Case Manager on Your Case, and they want to go in, You can Tell them No, as You Have the Right to Privacy. The NCM can Speak with Your Dr. After the Exam, but You can Stop them from going in. Best of Luck!! Wink

The IME I had they had a big sign in the waiting room stating nobody would be alowed in the room with you and no recording devices. Now that screams this doctor will be lying on his report about your medical condition. Why else would they not want you to atleast have somebody to be there with you?

well some religions require that a woman not be alone with a male not her husband period(mine being one of them)....My last Doc also said no one in the room so I insisted on a nurse being in the room......he was a rent a doc using another docs office and nurses...It was the nurse that sent me to the ER and with her and the ER doc got his whole IME made worthless.....you simply must know the rules of your state and inforce them......you have to be proactive for yourself

I am from NH and I do not recall reading on the paperwork that I could not have someone in the room with me but I sure wish I would of now because this doctor was so crooked. I met with him in Newton Mass. because I had an apartment up there but he also has an office in NH. He wrote in his report that he saw me in NH when in fact he saw me in Mass. I had a 32% report from my Occ. doctor and this IME doctor saw me less than 10 min. and gave me 10%. I feel the ONLY reason I got 10% from him is because my EMG said I had Mild carpal tunnel in my report. Had both reports NOT said that I feel he would of given me a 0%. He also stopped the IC from paying for all my medications by saying I did not need pain meds and that I was probably depressed before my injury so I did not need cymbalta. I was NOT using the cymbalta for that as I was prescribed that for nerve paid also. I sure hope you do not get that doctor as he was all for the IC.

My lawyer told me to call him right after my appt. It was a 3 hour drive home so I had time. Told him everything the doc tried to screw me up on and he made notes. Not sure how much it helped but he knew that day some of the things the doctor wrote up wrong on his report.

Thanks for all the help. I am going to bring someone this time. I am so sick of these appt. The doctors that work for these insurance companies should be ashamed of themselves for practicing like this. Obviously they only care about the $$$$ and not the patients. I am so angry. I have been going thru this sinc 2001. The only doctors that have found nothing wrong with me are the IME doc's. I have been to 2 ORS and they both told me they would not operate on me because I was to far gone from all the stupid shot i have gotten. Seriously around 6 doctors from 2001 have stated in notes that both my arms and neck are a result of over use. I have had major shots form Pain solutions. I have been on meds for a long time and everyday I have pain but I live with it. Sorry I keep going on I am just sick of it. My elbow look horrible and the bones show because all the muscle is gone, I show the IME doc and they look away its so funny its like they pretend not to notice it.
