WC stopped my benefits.. surgery is next month
Hi folks,
Wow a lot of people hurting out there, my prayers go out to you. I'm new to this forum, I have been searching for answers too. I've been on WC (Massachusetts) since Dec 08 with a shoulder injury, and finally the surgery was scheduled for next month. WC sent me to their doc to "approve" it, and her report came back that my injury was minor, just needed PT, and shut off my benefits. My doctor will not give me a release to go back to work without the surgery, and my work won't take me back without the release. I cannot collect disability or unemployment... I have a family to support... I went to a WC lawyer. My case will take some time to get in front of the judge... could be months... and bills keep rolling in. Any ideas?

You can check and see if your employer offers short term/long term disability....you may qualify for it and it would help some.

Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

take the release from the second opinion doctor to your employer to see if they'll take you back until the trial.
if they won't it should get you unemployment.

The second opinion is from the workers comp. Dr. My employer said they need the release from my surgeon, the Dr. who's been treating me all along. I was also told by my lawyer, not to try to collect unemployment. That if i did, workers comp. would use that against me. He said collecting unemployment would mean that you are able to work.
