Ok I currently work for a company in viginia and I hurt my leg in a gym class that we are paid to take and they have me being set-up with a WC rep tomorrow and I'm not going to be out of work but i was told by some people that you can get paid fo being injured and still get paid to work as well? Can i get some clarification please? We go to school full time so we arent doing any real physical labo but my knee aches thoughout the day and I want to know why they are sending me to the WC rep if im already back at work?
Any info would be much appreciated! |

There can be serious injuries where recovery is not 100%. in those cases some impairment benefits are paid.

RE: This is my first WC injuy and I'm not sure on what to do?
They may be thinking that there may be some difficulties in the future and they are just covering their behinds, so to speak. As far as "getting paid while being injured and still get paid to work"...that only applies if you are not able to make the same amount of wages as you were prior to the injury. Then, they would have to pay you the difference that you were loosing. The pay loss could come from not being able to work the same no. of hours, from having to take a pay cut, or from both. If you are able to continue to work the same no. of hrs. and are getting paid the same, then the company will just be paying you your regular pay check and nothing extra. They will not pay you for your time to go to the Dr. appnt., however, they do need to pay you .44 for your mileage. So, keep track of that, every trip to your appnts. and when you have a decent amount added up, fill out a chart/page with all the info. about where/when/why/who you went to see and how many miles it was round trip. Send it all in to your case manager and they will send you a check within a month or so.
