RE: 2nd Opinions - Updated
Hi Everyone!

I received a copy of the report that was sent to the insurance company and thought I would share the results. I was told that it was a 2nd Opinion exam but the report is titled, "Required Medical Evaluation" (RME) so if that falls under 2nd Opinion then I guess that is what it was.

Basically what the IC doctor found was the same thing my neurosurgeon has been saying. The recommendations that the RME doctor gave is for me to have another MRI with gadolinium enhancement. My neurosurgeon is requesting a CT Mylogram. I am not sure what the difference is between the two. If anyone here knows could you please explain for me?

Oh also it may be helpful to others to know that in the report he noted everything he observed about me i.e. movements, sitting (in my case what I do to tolerate it for short periods of time), posture, facial expressions, gate, the fact that I often lift my left foot off the floor and twist my ankle trying to stop it from hurting, movements I made in the attempt to lie down and what I had to do to get up. So they are not only looking for discrepancies in questions/answers but also in questions/answers vs body language/movements. Question that I asked him are also noted.

I was so worried after going through this examination and the fact the guy was just a royal jerk but in the report at least he was honest and ethical - sure lacks bedside manner though.

Next is the Designated Doctor examination. I sure hope his techniques are a lot friendlier than the RME's. I will update again after the appt. on the 17th.

Deb

RE: 2nd Opinions
Hi Deb...I agree with bad boy. They are not sending you for a second opinion, they just are doing the IME so that they know where to go next. Remember however, this second doctor is not your friend. He is not there to help you. When my husband went for his IME, I told him this doctor is not here to help you with anything etc. He didn't listen and told him everything while this doctor told him the same things that the doctor did that told him it was not accident related and was very rude. The diffence with his IME doctor, he told my husband the same stuff while smiling and being like the good ol boy...good luck...and best wishes.. Red...
