Hello -- I'm currently a Missouri speech path in the public school system who fell and damaged a number of cervical and lumbar discs, with resulting weakness and numbness in my hands and leg. I'm currently on modified work duty. I had put in for retirement for the end of this school year before the accident. I've had three MRIs, nerve conduction tests, EMG testing, and have been referred to a neurosurgeon for another evaluation next week. The school year is rapidly ending, and I have a long way to go. How will my upcoming retirement affect workman's comp, treatment, rating, and benefits? I had planned to work after retirement and kept my national certification updated and current.

i suspect being released to light or modified work would stop temporary disability benefits on a retiree.
whether your retirement rules have special exceptions for those on disability would best be answered by your state retirement board.
