FCE Scheduled...what to expect?
Hello.
I had an IME on 4/20/09, to which I still have not received the results, but apparently the WC Ins has because I got a letter today (Through my attorney) stating the IC scheduled an FCE for me on 6/2. My job is very physical using my arms (Fire Alarm Installer) using a lot of force pulling wire and very repetetive installing devices above my head all day. I know there is no way I can ever do this work again. Are they trying to prove otherwise? A few facts... 1. My primary doctor has never given me a rating, just has me off work indefinitely after they tried to send me back light duty and it was too painful. 2. The IME was on 4/20, but I have not seen the results. A few questions... 1. What is an FCE? 2. What should I expect? 3. Any pointers? Thanks for any answers on this. I have a lawyer but haven't been able to talk to him since I got this letter today. -Dan State of Arizona DOI 6/11/08 Compound Fracture Right Wrist, and Left elbow. Hardware implant 6/14/08 Hardware removal on 09/20/08 due to plate aggrevating tendon in wrist. Confirmed post traumatic arthritis, decreased ROM, and irregularities in both joints. |

RE: FCE Scheduled...what to expect?
Hi, try not to take medications before the exam that way you will get true results. Make a sincere and maximum effort during. Ask to rest if you need to. http://www.med-tox.com/functional_capacity.pdf

RE: FCE Scheduled...what to expect?
I had 1 and it realy is no big deal. But like oblivyous said try not to take pain meds before the test & personaly depends what your on, dont take at least 12 hours before. Be honest and try your best, but that does not mean you push your self into pain. Tell them the instant it bothers you and dont hurt yourself doing anything they ask...................Good luck.........Bronco

RE: FCE Scheduled...what to expect?
The FCE isn't trying to prove you can return to work, instead it is in place to see what type of work you can now perform...
