I once got denied for surgery to treat a nasty bone infection the Friday before a Monday surgery, just as I was leaving my pre-surgical consult. My surgeon was so furious she got on the phone directly with the WC carrier and was able to get them to understand the seriousness of the situation and lo and behold I was back on the calendar!
