RE: Back injury
Thans everyone who wrote here, Just wanted to let you know I went to physical therapy today for the first time. I think it went well, I was scared by some of the questions and the look on her face at my answers, but, by the end she had down a few things and the pain and numbness went away, the numbness did come back but I do not think it is as numb as before, she told me some things to do to i guess expand the space so the never would not be pinched. Keep your fingers crossed for me .

Thanks,

Cygent

RE: Back injury
So I am back here again, have the results of the mri seeing and ortho on monday. bulging disc at L5 so time will tell and my foot is not so bad now it is getting better i think, it still is not right but i am hoping i wont have to have surgery. BUT.....

The MRI showed something else it seems there is some big old mass of something on my left kidney so back to the hospital on thursday for a renal cat scan.

This all really s---cks cause I do not have insurance and found out that my employer is all worried cause she was suppose to call workers comp or report it in 2 days and did not and is kind of giving me crap about reporting it not that it would have anything to do with the kidney thing i am just real confused about it.

RE: Back injury
I would not be concernded with the issue of the employer. I know it it difficult, but the job is not the most important thing here. The most important thing is your health. Most of us have been in the same postion. Meaning, wanting to keep a job we enjoyed and be well. When push comes to shove, we must come first.

I hope all goes well on Thursday.

Take Care

RE: Back injury
My Guess would Probably be No, I think they May very well be 2 Separate Issues. But Stranger things have Happened! Discuss this with Your Dr., if Your Disc is Only Bulged, and not Herniated, You stand a Very Good Chance of Full Recovery with the Proper Physical Therapy, and I Hope Your Kidney Issue is not Severe! RE: Back injury
Well, here I am after all this time. I still have a back injury it is a herniated disc at L5 which is pressing on the S1 nerve which is causing my foot issue, the left one which is floppy at times and makes me stumble. I was doing physical therapy 3x a week until last week they set me free said they did all they could for me, sent me on my way with exercises to do.

So now what I am finding is not really pain but a sensation of major pressure on my lower spine. Has anyone else had this?
Another is that after say dricing in my car for as little as 20 minutes I, when getting out of the car have severe pain in my hip which goes away after about 15 minutes.

I have also seen two doctors regarding the tumors on my kidney. nothing has been done a yet. I am tired of doctors appointments, There have been weeks when I had appointments everyday.

Thanks, hoping someone may be able to help here

RE: Back injury
Cygnet,
Welcome to the forum. The advice Limbo gave you is the same thing I would have stated to you. He and I go a long way back together on this forum and we both have back injuries. When you originally saw the doctor and he said you probably had a disc problem he made a great guess. I say guess because soft tissue does not show up in just a plain X-Ray. If the MRI had not already been suggested and scheduled for you I would have advised you to ask the doctor to do the MRI.

Sorry to hear your back is injured in this manner. I have had more than enough of my share with back and neck problems. I certainly wish you the best. Know that you can come here anytime and someone will answer your question. This is a great place to be.

I would also suggest you visit the Off Topic Area as this is where we have a bit more fun than just discussing medical issues. You have entered the world of a bunch of great people and we have become family on this forum. So much support is offered by everyone. Hope you will join us in that area also. Praying and wishing the best for you.

Here goes, I am a cajun gal so,

Cajun Hugsssssssss to you,

RE: Back injury
...keeping mind that there is no correlation between MRI or other imaging findings and patients symptoms and complaints of course. They are used to corroborate the physical exam findings.
