first time Injured on the job
On February 10th of this year I had a little accident in the job.
I work in Alaska in a cannery, I broke my shoulder with a forklift related incident I did got hospital care and my shoulder fracture is already 50% getting better. Even with the pain of my arm and shoulder I never miss work because I had to pay the bills and also I don't want to loose my job on this times of recession, the pain is always there I really don't know if I should get a lawyer to see if I'm doing the right moves. Maybe someone here can give me some advice?

RE: first time Injured on the job
Welcome to the forum. I am also an injured worked, I was injured by a student in the classroom in 2005.
First, you need to post your state as work comp is state specific. Second, did your employer file a work comp claim for this accident? Third, (you have to pay the bills), are you speaking of your medical bills, work comp should pay them. Fourth, if the doctor has given you work restrictions be sure to follow them when working. Closing, if you will look at the top of the page and click on state information you will find information about the work comp laws in your state. |

RE: first time Injured on the job
mostly your really don't have to do much as long as the doctors are reporting everything to the carrier and they are paying benefits.
you can read about the alaska comp system here http://labor.state.ak.us/wc/wc-brochure.pdf they also have a state website with some information http://labor.state.ak.us/wc/home.htm |

Thank you for the fast feed back
workmen comp is paying for all medical bills, yes a report was filed and I'm following all doctors appointments and now I'm in therapy to regain all full moves and live with out of pain. I was just wondering if I was able to get some compensation but its all good thank you again for your help |

RE: first time Injured on the job
Usually if You Heal as Close to 100% as Possible, and there is no Long Term Disability, or Permanent Impairment, there is no Settlement. Now if You are going to be Left with any of the Above, there May be a Settlement Due You. A Consultation with a w/c Attorney is not a Bad idea, the First Visit is Usually Free, and You May be able to Learn a Lot from Them! Best of Luck, I Hope All Goes Well for You!
Failed Back Surgery, Chronic Pain, Totally Disabled. Knowledge is Power, Especially in the World of w/c. Learn as Much as You can about Your States w/c Laws, and don't Fight Battles alone, They Use Attorney's, and so Should You!! |

RE: first time Injured on the job
Hi,
Your treating doctor released you to work full duty? Without restrictions with a broken shoulder? Lilly

RE: first time Injured on the job
never fail to work, the doctor wanted to give me days off, but I couldn't afford to be off so I ask him at the time not to get me an absence to work, so they give me a note that I can work a lite duties.
thank you for your help |
