3 level laminectomie surgery

hello everyone thanks for all this information;my question to you is this;I got hurt at work last july 2008,what I thought to be a pulled muscle has now turned into 1 TEAR disk and 2 herniated disks
iam in WC in california; currently receiving my benefits and medical treatment; doctor has now set the date for my surgery for may 7
I have retained an attorney; doctor has told me already that I WONT BE able to return to my line of work; it requires a lot of lifting and pullin; so what can I expect from a surgery like this?
is this something thats going to help me get back to work someday
I have no experience doing anything else; iam in my 50s so any Ideas
whats going to happen with me? my mind is so foggy from all this medications Iam taking I cant even think clearly..... will I receive some kind of compensation for this? Iam about to lose my home I have no Idea what the future holds for me; and also how siccesfull are this kind of surgeries; Iam so frustated and scared; never dealt with WC in 31 yrs of work THANK YOU AND BLESSINGS

I wish you all the luck in the world. I myself have had a cervical fusion. I was off work for 18 months with it before the company forced me back to work. After returning to work and pushing, pulling, and unloading trucks. Now mind you I am in Retail Management, one month later I popped my lower back. only to find out that I need a 4 level fusion , and I have had 2 Ortho's say NO to it. I now have a Implanted Spinal Cord Stimulator for the low back..But not to confuss you from my Cervical Fusion I now have permenant nerve damage in my neck, shoulder, bicep, and forearm. Now all of this is being mirrowed to the left side of the body now, all comming from the C7 disc. One level below my cervical fusion that was done in 2003. I have now been put off work again for a couple weeks due to the nerve damage in the upper body. Bust I must say that I also have permenant nerve damage in the lower body as 2 of the 4 bad disc in the lower back are impinged on nerves. With the S1 disc nearly gone and disappeared. I live on narcotics daily just to survive. My job is consistelty 10 hrs straight on my geet standing on concrete. with no lunch break involved to set down and rest. I will tell you that I have worked 35 years on concrete and physicalyon my feet some weeks 80 hrs a week. I relish the moment I get home and can lay down on the couch on in my bed. Now with the WC delays and games it is all leading to a depression state of mind.One again welcome read and see what we all deal with daily and every day..Some days are better than others but most of us on here have so many issures that I believe we have more bad days than we have good one. Once again welcome and I hope you can learn from out experiences. My self I have been involved in the WC area since 2001.

the surgery Iam having in may is L3-L4-L5 POSTERIOR lumbar laminectomy with diskectomy; ihave no IDEA whats this is;any one had this done before; would appreciate your comments ;oh and yes jane Iam in victorville california

Have you had a second medical opinion? failed spinal surgeries are rampant in workers comp (and probably every where else)

they did a test with electro-needles; doctor said they were positive;I do get numb on my right leg;can only walk for about an hour then I have to lay down for 2 or 3 hours to recover

Unfortunatly, that sounds very familure. There are a few here that have/had those same symptoms. The issue with the nerves is a serious one. Most of the time, when what ever is pushing on the nerve (disc) is corrected. Then after time, the nerve goes back to normal. If the problem is not solved soon enough, then the damage can become permanent.
