Lets call this person Secret Squirrel...

Security Guard for a Hospital.

Bitten by a unruly patient. Bite penetrated skin.

Blood was coming out from bite mark.

Patient Has Aids / Hiv + Hepatitis C = HCV = Coinfection of HIV and hepatitis C virus (HCV).

Hepatitis C is a virus that causes a liver infection. It can lead to liver damage over time. You get the virus by coming in contact with an infected person’s blood

Injury been reported;

First Medical Care had taken place;

Injured worker (Secret Squirrel) Is very sick now, vomitting a major issue; Employer demands they come in and work, or risk being fired;

I gave them my advise to go to work, show them how sick they are, and seek more medical treatment after punching in to work. They haven't done this yet. Family doctor was seen, doesn't handle infectious disease. Was reffered to a specialist, which appointment is Wed coming up.

Then employer calls today, said their going to pay him for his days off work;

I would suggest going in to work and vomiting on the boss, then explain what it is that made him sick.Maybe if the boss becomes ill too someone will listen and care.

1171, yes and since I know this person that was one of the very first things I mentioned to them. I should have stated that.

If I am also correct, the Hospital has to report it also to the CDC. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)

They are also required to have certain levels of identification, response and control to bloodborne pathogens by OSHA.

It would be the same as if a needle stick, W/C and employee health would get involved. Medical attention and follow up by employer. This is a very serious situation. and all guide lines should be followed to not only protect the person bitten but all others he comes in contact with untill he is cleared........And yes it would be reported, or should be..........

Tuffy I know about the seriousness of this. This is why I made the thread for them Secret Squirrel. How will they, our should help in the Prevention of other Secret Squirrel comes in contact with, such as his family and such now?
