Hi,

Here's a fabulous site to help you when you file!
It helped me when I filed, and I was awarded SSD 1st time around.
Good Luck LillySmile

RE: SS Disability
I believe it is just pure luck who gets ssdi the first time around. Not long ago, we had a news investigation why so many seriously ill people are turned down. They found out, the local office is under pressure to turn away at least 98% of the people who doesn't seem to be dying yet.
I was also turned down twice, even though their appointed doctor recommended disability. Now I am waiting more than a year now to go before the judge and was told I have an other year to wait due to backlog.
You should apply and hope for the best.
Good luck.
Kat

Cf

Ifoster21 is correct, gathering medical records is one of the most important things you can do.

In 1991 I received training from Social Security Administration as one of 45 Intake Workers in the Midwest. This was a volunteer position that was created due to the Zebley Decision and was ordered by the courts.

A part of the training was of medical records and we learned the importance of gathering complete information so a fair decision may be made in regards to eligibility determination.

When I applied I did so and had my interview at the local office, I had original medical documents that I had spent months gathering. I do believe my effort paid off as I was approved in six weeks without an attorney.

RE: SS Disability
There are Many Ways to Apply, Me Personally, I Made an Appt. with the Local Office, and took My Medical Records. My Approval was Quick, but I don't think anything I did Helped, other than the Phone Interview I had. I not only told them of My Loss of being able to Work, I also Told the Person how it had Effected My Daily Life. 3mos./3wks. Later, I was Approved! I Guess both Ways are just as Effective, I just Felt Better going on My Own, it felt Better to Me to be Hands On, and have a Name of Who I Interviewed with for Future Reference!Wink

P.S.- I was 43 when I Applied, and was Approved on My Work Injury Alone, I was in Great Health, with Only Mild Hypertension. Cervical, I Really don't See You having Much of a Problem! Good Luck!!Wink

Failed Back Surgery, Chronic Pain, Totally Disabled.
