Information by employer
I an currently out on WC and my employer is asking for me to get a statement from doctor direct. Has anyone experienced this before? I was under the assumption that it had to go through the insurance company.

No, your employer is also to stay well informed, they pay for the Insurance and your their employee that was injured at their place while working.

RE: Information by employer
do you mean the employer wants to pay for your treatment directly?
if so, you are right to be worried. this is a common sign that they have no insurance or are trying to hide their costs. both of which are illegal in most states.

RE: Information by employer
Is your employer also a medical doctor? HA.

You should be safe under FMLA, as long as you have a doctor's slip.
BUT, After FMLA is up.. if you are off longer than that time allowance...it's possible for you to loose your job, as many of us on here have.
What is your injury, if I may ask? And what type of work do you do?

Take care, Lilly

Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!!

A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless!

Your employer is within their rights to ask for this information. They may be trying to craft a light duty position for you as well. Works Comp isn't meant to be a paid vacation. If they can put you back to work answering the phone or counting widgets while you recover that is within there rights.

I had an employer do this for me and I was glad they did. I got full paycheck and not the necked down version I would have go under WC. Sure it's was the most boring thing I'd ever done but it beat sitting at home and watching Jerry Springer reruns.

RE: Information by employer
Does your medical condition actually require being away from the work place with or without reasonable accomodations by the employer ? Does your workplace have a Stay at Work/ Return to Work program in place ? Research indicates that being at work is therapeutic in and of itself.
