First Job, Hurt for the first time.
Hello all,
I was hoping some people could give me some answers. I had this job, Sutherland's, for the past 2 years. it was my first job, i started when i was 16, I'm now 18. Last Sunday, i was pulling some 4x4's for a customer (Sutherland is a Lumber/ Hardware store). I smashed my hand in between two 4x4s, and i tend to pass out when i hurt my hands, i don't know why, neither do the doctors. I Passed out and slammed my head on the hard concrete floor, i woke up with scratches up and down my arms, and terrible neck pain, as anyone could imagine. I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, had couple cat scans, and Xrays done to my arm. I was discharged and have to do followups with neurologists and my normal doctor. I had 3 days off of work. I Return the fourth day, only to be fired. The story i was told, was completely made up on the spot, i can tell that i had became a liability, because my job does not have any type of insurance. My general question, is there anything i can do? I now am left with an ambulance bill and a hospital bill, and no job. |

Snot, It will help if you list your state. Have you talked to a lawyer? I believe the employer should be paying for this, but someone who knows your state laws will be along with more info for you, so please list your state.

I think someone is pulling your leg. Sutherlands carries workers comp insurance. You need to speak with a workers comp attorney. Jayne, on this forum, is from up in your neck of the woods. You should send her a PM.

RE: First Job, Hurt for the first time.
I sent him my lawyers name he is a real Bulldog.......and he has docs that will see you wait to get paid when the judge orders it paid
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....
