RE: The Florida Trip
Tuffy,
The trip to Florida sounds so wonderful. I love the warm weather, the beach and the sand. I love hearing the sounds of the waves turning over. This is one of my favorite places to be. A couple years ago we went to Beverly Beach Florida for a week. I was just in heaven. I sure wish I could go but with my upcoming surgery it is just not possible. One day I will make one of this groups gatherings. Ya'll enjoy yourselfs and have a great time. When you are hearing the waves turn over.....please think of me as you hear that wonderful relaxing sound. Travel safely and enjoy your trip. God Bless. RE: The Florida Trip
I would really like to come but not knowing job status and problems I have been having I cant comitt. But sounds like a very good time & meeting you all would be a real trip by itself.
I'm telling ya any one that wants to go, Florida Gulf beaches are awsome. I have been to Florida alot probably 3-4 times a year untill I got hurt. Pensacola, Gulf breeze has a great state campground and cheap. Fort Walton and Destin is nice too but Panama city is a great place for family lots to do. I have never been to where the gathering is but the looks of the pics it looks great. Just watch out for the jelly fish, I was at Myrtle beach SC stayed at Ocean Lakes campground (which is right on the beach). I some how got tangled with a few Jelly fish let me tell you that was the worse thing I ever had to put up with, worse then any bee sting ever.................LOL. BRONCO. |

Bronco, I used to Scuba, but gave it up a few years ago, My youngest son is into it big time, I have a good friend ( Male) that is a master diver, I spent a week with Mel Fisher, and my friend a few years ago, what an experiance. I have also met other Treasure divers thru my friend.
I know what you are saying about Jelly fish. Ouchie.......Got into a mess of them off CoCoa beach Fl awhile back and it was not fun... Will be carefull.... Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain. |

RE: The Florida Trip
As it turns out, I won't be going to Michigan this week to get my son. Instead he is going to finish up the school year there, and I will be leaving June 1st and going to get him. I will also be going through central MI to see Brianne and then down into the Detroit area to see my son...and finally get to meet my three grandbabies for the first time (the twins turn 4 this Friday the 20th).
Then it will be back to Texas in time to start getting things ready for our annual to do for the USA Deep South writer's forum over the weekend of the 12,13,14th at Caddo Lake. The trip to Michigan and back is going to be just over 2200 miles, and Caddo Lake will add another 600 or so miles round trip. I will need the 2 weeks after that to recoup for the trip to Broken Bow, OK. over the weekend of the 4th. I wish that I could make it to FL., but the only way that I am going to make it to MI ?? My ex is sending me the money that he would have used on our son's airline ticket to use for gas. And I can sleep in the car on the way up to MI., and I am sure that there is a cheap motel on the way back that Nathan and I can stay in one night on the way home. As for meals, I am going to take the ice chest with food and mt. dew.. so I won't need to stop at fast food chains and buy anything along the way. I'm sorry that I will miss getting to meet Admin, Tuffy and Gail, and getting to see Vickie again. But sometimes there are choices that have to made in regards to what MUST be done, and what will have to wait for another time. RE: The Florida Trip
UA,, What is your route to Mi? are you going to be in the Chicago or I-90 area? Maybe we can meet for coffee etc, on your way through or your way back unless you are planning on swimming or floating across Lake Michigan LOL I am an hour or less, west of Chicago, just off of I-90 You may be going right past BB on your way.
If you will be traveling I-80 that is not to far from me, that is where we met Red and Del, on there way through. Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain. |

RE: The Florida Trip
It looks like you are going to gather about 60 miles north of us in Sarasota. We are in Ft. Myers to the south have a great time it is a nice area but I think Venice beach is more known for sharks teeth. Enjoy

Tuffy, I wish that I had the time to go through Illinois and meet up with you. But my fastest route to and from MI will be up through MO and IN into MI. Now if I were going to drop down into CO on my way home and see my mom, I would go across I-94 to I-80 as that is the fastest way for me. But I can't do that on that this trip as I have one week to get there, pick up my youngest, go norrth and see my daughter, then southeast to see my other son and grandbabies and then get home so that I can start getting things together for our greet n meet in east Texas the weekend of the 12th. That one takes some doing as we host it, and I have to make sure that we have all the groceries as well as extra kitchen things we need for three days of cooking, packing everything and getting it all packed into my car. We generally go down the day before and stay at a small fishing camp so that we can get an early start on setting up the headuarters before anyone else arrives. And this year, I will have to make sure that my son has everything that he needs for the trip before we leave. Which is more added stress. I hope that y'all have a great time in FL. Will be with you in thought at least. Give Vickie a hug for me, and make sure that y'all take lots of pics for those of us that would love to be there, but can't.
