Billy Bob
Along with all of the deer, squirrel, birds and everything else that walks crawls or meanders through my yard, I now have Billy Bob. I went to the window today and when I looked out I saw this cute little opossum. As Dave and I watched him i could tell there was something wrong with him. The first thing I noticed was he has a crippled front foot. he has great difficulty picking the bread up and keeps dropping it. After we watched him for awhile I told Dave I thought he was blind. Sure enough Dave went out on the porch very quietly and waved his hand up and down in front of his face. The poor little guy is completely blind. He isn't very old by the size of him, he was probably born last spring. I keep feeding him bread and the chewy dog treats I have for the dogs.

RE: Billy Bob
I'll stay far enough away from him so he doesn't bite me. I'm going to put an old sweater under the end of the porch for him. I usually don't think opossums are that cute, but him being crippled and blind I'll do whatever I can for him. I always have been one of those who fought for the underdog.

RE: Billy Bob
Bless you and Billy Bob, I had a pet possum when I was a kid about 12, he lived in our garage in a big cage we had used for rabbits. Gentle as all get out and we could pick him up and cuddle him. We had him for a few years and then one day he was just gone. My dad said he thought he had run away. Sure he did, he took the lock off the cage, opened the door and ran away.

RE: Billy Bob
I always had animals running away when I was a kid. I would drag anything home from a snake to a horse and everything in between. One time our neighbors dog had puppies and I not only brought all 6 pups home, but the Mom, they weren't being taken care of. I finally found homes for all of the puppies except the one I kept. My hamsters use to run away allot, according to Mom, she saw them running across the back yard........

RE: Billy Bob
It's funny how mom's and dad's always seemed to see the animals running away but we kids never did. My poor parents, they never knew what they would find when they opened the garage door. LOL Did you ever notice how fast the goldfish grew or how they changed color????????
