yup.
being exposed to both sides of an issue often improves the chances of solving a problem by allowing a better view as to what is motivating the behvior.
This board is better then many but is not immune to the "other side is always wrong" syndrome. i know interacting here improves my undestanding of the weakness of work comp systems.
the struggle is always to strike a balance when all parties want it tipped in their favor.

I know the forum is not immune to "the other side is always wrong"...Heck, I HAVE that syndrome myself! (even though I try not to be like that)

But I've seen many people during my working years that became IW's, and there was always stalling on the medical help area it seems.

One of my co-workers broke his back at work, and he ended up with a mere $25K settlement as he didn't use a lawyer....he ended up on strict restrictions, no job, and a lifetime of tremendous pain. How's the scale tipped here? The struggle for balance seems to me, to be more IC sided, unless the IW gets a lawyer involved. Then, by doing that....things are slowed down even more, only by both sides this time.

Another co worker broke his back....after healing, RTW, and he lost his job also , because he was unable to not miss work on occasion because of pain. I realize, missing work a couple times a month, does not a good employee make....but it was never his fault to begin with.....it was an accident, and he happened to be the injured party.

Cycler, I have spent time on the other forum (employers side) and I know there are workers that take advantage of any system they can. I also know that many employers choose to over look certain downfalls of bad influence workers only because of a certain skill they may obtain....or they are simply oblivious to some of the idiots who work for them....when the surrounding factory workers can recognize a sluffer in a day's time.
Out of the few, but very diverse superior's I've had in my 40+ yrs working, NONE have been able to recognize a sluffing, or user type employee, simply because of the of lack of observance on their part. I'm not saying that this happens in every case...but I bet it does, more often than not.

I used to work for the Salvation army and the local chicken plant always sent me their light duty workers......some hung around outside smoking... some done what they could and some were in so much pain I put them in my office on a couch to wait out their day.....within a few hours I could tell you the Bull crap ones......I could also clearly see that some had no business driving to work with all the narcs they were on.....I reported everyday on every one they sent me......The nurse knew which ones couldnt work and needed the money and she sent me those so they could get full pay..sleeping on my couch..she also knew who was full of feathers.....these things are easily seen if you look and spend time with and truly care,,,,,to many people ,its a numbers game not a humane world we live in.......to deny medical treatment,needed drugs and that small weekly check just because you can is mean and there is a special seat in hell right next to the fire for those people.....to keep a check for an extra day or so cuz you can is sometimes the difference between eating that day or the car being towed away,,,,,,its not a game for either side........
