comp carrier will not respond to dr
Question, face was burned (almost frostbit) after sitting under an air handler vent. Had a rash, it's gone now, however at jaw line of face continues to be numb since date of injury May 08. Went to Dr immediately after injury, after several weeks went to an Occupational physicians office who then referred me to a neurologist. He's diagnosed trigeminal neuralgia unknown itiology. Can't get workers comp carrier to return drs phone calls on approving an MRI (or not approving). I need to know because I will have to go to my group insurance to get the needed MRI approved. I've called the contact in November after Dr. said he was unsuccessful. He (neurologist) was trying to answer questions for her, and now she won't call him back. He's called at least 6 times. What can I do to get them to respond. Thanks

nothing.
you or the doctor can contact others in the chain of command i.e. claims supervisor, claims manager manager, ceo, etc.
you can bring litigation. you can file a complaint with insurance commissioner, you can contact your employer.

I did contact my employer to ask if the workers compensation carrier had been away, they said she had been away some. I told them she was not returning my calls. I haven't got a response back yet, however, it was only Tuesday that I talked to them. I will give a few more days. Complication is the company I work for his being sold and I'm not sure where that will leave me in this particular situation. The contact has held up paying the neurologist office visit for more information from him and then has not returned phone calls.

time to get a lawyer. Call and talk to more than one w/c lawyer then figure out who the best to handle your case. They can deal with the ic and get things moving. If they continue to refuse to return call then the lawyer will take it to court and get the judge to order the needed care. THe wheels move very slow so keep after it. also start a log. write down who you call or called you what was said and action taken, log any changes the injury has caused to your daily life.

May God send his angels to hold you in his arms

RE: comp carrier will not respond to dr
I believe that I have been patient because I am still working at the job, and I'm afraid that I could lose my job if I am too persistant. Right now I have the one office visit and a couple of prescriptions that I have filled and haven't turned in because they are still "investigating". But my jaw area is still numb and throbs at times. The company is being sold, but the same people will be in the same positions and I wonder if they'll even have to consider the claim. I know that the conditions are still the same in the room that I was sitting in at the time. Have had someone out to look at the system, the guy that I did sit beside at times wears a coat with his hood up.
