Spinal Cord Stimulator
Update on SCS:
DH had trial done end of October. Worked like a charm. Dr. said they would get approval for implant. When we hadn't heard back, I called, Dr's office: 'waiting for approval' from IC. Called attorney, who said he would make calls (this was court ordered, so IC was just trying to delay). Dr's office called back, he had a date for a week later. Implant occurred on Tuesday 11/25. Unfortunately they only put 1 program on the thing. This past Thursday we finally caught up with the Co. Rep. who put 5 programs in and they work pretty well. Finally. 14 months and a court order later, DH has some relief. Next, Pain Mgmt Dr. wants to start working on meds that will be more effective in conjunction with the SCS. There is light at the end of this tunnel. DH had posterior spinal decompresion, Bi-Lateral laminectomy L3-S1, Excision of L4-5 on L/side. 2/07 |

RE: Spinal Cord Stimulator
Glad you are getting relief. Hope this will work out for you. My wife and I both have SCS and both were done this year. Mine was in Aug so it's getting better. I think I was lucky snce my wife had one before me they gave me more programs since we knew how to make it work. If you think about it the last thing they want to do is make it so confusing you can make it work, so until you get to know the device they keep it simple. I believe the trials would go better if poeple understould them more. We also got lucky with both our after the trial my perm was only 4 weeks after it and my wifes was like 5 or 6.

RE: Spinal Cord Stimulator
I am very happy for you and your husband. I hope the pain becomes a "0" of a "1" on the pain scale, once they get the the meds worked out.

RE: Spinal Cord Stimulator
I think a happy Dance is in order! Anytime relief of any sort is felt...it is a blessing from above, passed to you, through your skilled doctors!!! Adjusting the meds will be the easy part hopefully!! I am happy for DH's and your relief!!
My prayers continue for you both! Lilly

RE: Spinal Cord Stimulator
DH's better half. Which brand and model does he have not. I had one implanted Sept. 12 of this year. I have about 5 programs now to. I have days I really have to turn it up high and other days I turn it down low. But I still have the meds. IT does make my live easier at times and there are times I hate the stupid thing. Depends on what I doing at the time. Mine is for my lumbar area. I know there are people who have them for ther cervical area, which I will be seeing my dr in the morning, I just had a new cervical cat scan done and we will go over it.
Cervical Fusion 2003, c5-c6. Herniated and damaged Disc L1- L4-L5 S1. Lumbar Spinal Cord stimulator implant 09-2008. Cervical ACDF revision with hardware c4-c5-c6-c7 Sept 2009. SSDI approved 3-2010. NOW OFFICIALY RETIRED |

RE: Spinal Cord Stimulator
The multiple progams is a plus. If he does not have it, he wants control of the pulse and bandwith. It make a huge difference.
8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

DH had posterior spinal decompresion, Bi-Lateral laminectomy L3-S1, Excision of L4-5 on L/side. 2/07 |
