Smile RE: Medical Update
TPM,

Thanks for the update!  Sorry to hear you are still in so much pain and I can certainly relate to it right along with you.  Do you really think your doc will clear you for work without restrictions of some sort?  I truly know you need to get back to work but I have to say, that really worries me with the problems you still continue to have.  I am so afraid that you re-injure yourself.  I will be praying the X-Rays show that your fusions are in tact like they should be at this point in your recovery.  I pray that things will work out for you.  Keep me posted, Please!  God Bless and please take good care!

MJC

RE: Medical Update
Hi all...MJC I am so sorry that you are having so much pain. My husband has his issues in his neck and he always thought it was his left arm because that is where the pain is. He is really doing good now. The swelling in his neck has gone down and he is not in as much pain. I know what kind of pain you are dealing with if it is like his you are miserable. I am surprised that you can type at all. My husband typed but it was very slowly. You are in my prayers daily. God bless you and keep you in his everloving and tender care.

Tom...I am so excited for you. It sounds like your determination may have worked for you. I wish you the best with your next appointment. Let us all know how it turns out. You are in our prayers also, and loads of love and hugs are coming your way.... Carol (red)

RE: Medical Update
Hi MJC, I hope you are feeling a little better today! I wish there was something I could do or say to help with your pain other than to take it easy and try to rest!! I know that's hard to do, the pain keeps you awake, and they say your body heals best when you sleep! Kind of a double edged sword there huh? Do the best you can to rest and I hope your pain eases for you Today!!Wink

TPM, you've explained why you need to get back in that Truck and soon, and I understand, but Please Be Careful!! Try to get a helper or someone else to crank up the trailer and pull the pin, you don't need to be doing any further damage to yourself right now!! And be careful you don't slip on the catwalks or fuel tank, and don't pull yourself up in the Truck by the steering wheel with your bad shoulder! O.K., I'm done talking and acting like a Mother Hen, but we both do the same type of work, and I know what needs to be done before we even put Her into gear! Just please be careful, and let us know how things are going O.K.?Wink

Thanks so much Still in Limbo

I understand what you're saying. I am totally stressed about going back. Not sure what the doc will think about my fusion coming along, if he will need to cancel the appointment, what my primary care doc will say and and if she will give me any restrictions... etc., etc.
I get paid by the hour and I will be like everyone else there for a while and drag my feet (not my nature but.. ) providing I get the chance that is.
I will keep you posted, by next Friday I'll know.
Company is trying to make it difficult, they won't schedule an appointment for my DOT physical until my doc clears me. This way they can have me work in the warehouse until they are ready to send me to their doc for it.
Oh the stress!!!!

Thanks for thinking of me

Take Care and Be Well
Tom

Smile RE: Medical Update
Hi everyone,

I see Lilly asked for an update on another thread and I thought I would keep it with my Medical Update thread.

I have been in PT for 4 weeks now. PT is killing me but I am refusing to let me torture me anymore. Therapist asked today is I was ready for the shoulder manipulation and I said yes, but you will not make me cry. It went ok, hurt some but made them stop when it became it was where I could not tolerate it and I could feel the tears starting to appear so they stopped there.

I saw PM doc this morning before PT. He said this is going to be a slow process and wants me to try another 4 weeks of PT and I agreed. I have also been having problems on the right side of my neck which is the same side as the shoulder problem. Just so happen today PM doc asked how my neck was feeling and then I told him of the pain and increased headaches since I started PT. He gave me 3 trigger point injections on that side of my neck. I will see if it helps. I will see the PM doc again in 2 months and after I finish the other 4 weeks of PT he will want a progress note from the therapist and will make more decisions at that point.

Thanks Lilly for remembering me, it is deeply appreciated. It happened to be today that I had news to post and there you were posting on a thread asking. A little ESP going there.....lol.

I will post more as soon as I know more......promise.
Take care everyone and God Bless.

RE: Medical Update
Hello MJC

Sorry the PT is going rough for you but I know from which you speak. I think my therapist was a little to aggressive last Thursday and now I have to take off from work tomorrow to see the surgeon. Been 5 months post op and I am having severe neck pain front and back. The pain has gotten worse in the past few days because of the PT. Comes to a point you don't know which way to go... PT or no PT
Also like you my shoulders are still sore but I think if my neck can heal so then will the shoulders. But what do I know
Hopefully my ex-rays will be OK but I really would like a CT scan done (I'll ask for sure)
I hope you start getting some relief and soon
Good luck and be well

Take Care and Be Well
Tom

RE: Medical Update
I wasn't in PT for very long, but the lady that I had said that when you start to wince, stop. You can slowly work up to things, don't push past pain. I'm not sure that she was right, but it sounded right to me. I wish both MJC and TPM the absolute best!

they where absolutely right. Pushing it too far in PT will not help!
When you push it too far, you are just re-injuring what you are trying to heal. if an excersise hurts too much, maybe they can find another one that will work the same muscles, but in a different way, so as to not cause too much pain. A little pain is ok, uncomfortable is ok, but if it HURTS or hurts for hours after, they need to change what they are having you do.
I would suggest that if you can do what I'm allowed to do, that is pick your own PT facility, pick one that deals a whole heak of a lot with sports medicine, AND that your surgon would recomend.
I also did power training in high school (dead lifting 275lb)... the rule of thumb always was, if it is uncomfortable, keep going. If it hurts, drop it!
