Just wanted to say thank god I have a lawyer ! The ic is arguing against RSD being accepted as part of my claim, God knows I wasn't living and feeling like this before my injury. Yesturday after many visits and such later the pm dr diagnosed my rsd as spreading it has now settled in my cervicle spine area. Blocks were scheduled on my arm 2 months ago but put off due to ic needing more tests to rule out other possibilitys. Maybey we could have stoped the spread then, instead of starting blocks to late. If I didn't have a lawyer I dont think I would have the strength to fight for this. Sorry for rambling I just needed to vent. IC's would just assume watch a person lose everything than to admit someone has a vicous monster of an injury that needs help. I feel anyone with work related rsd should have a lawyer.

Thank you limbo, Ive always tried to follow that same advice, I needed the reminder. Sometimes I let my anger and confusion get the best of me. Been a confusing road filled with 101 diagnoses and is hard to focuss when you have poeple from other side attacking you .

RE: Lawyer
Silly,

Sounds like you and I have alot in common. I got hurt almost 2 yrs ago with my dominant hand. Recurring carpal tunnel, tendonitis, neuropathy, and now the new one RSD have been my diagnosis. I received my pir award in Aug. of a 10% rating based on recurring carpal tunnel as my doctors all refused to say I had RSD even though I had 7 out of the 8 symptoms. Only thing I did not have and still do not have is my fingernails that looked different.

Not all RSD suffers have the same look to them. It took one day a few months ago after my award for the doctor to say that I had RSD because my arm was swollen and had a rash that was terrible only on that arm. The IME doctor for the IC is the one that gave me the 10% rating and said I had recurring carpal tunnel. I went to a ortho doctor after and tried to get the surgery because of the results from the IC doctor. The ortho doctor refused to repeat the surgery and gave me a cortisone shot instead. I never went back because he was rude and making comments that I should not be on the medication I am on for my injury after just meeting me for 10 mins. and not knowing my history and what I have been through.

I do not have a lawyer and I have had one gangloin block sofar for RSD and now going for my second one on the 19th. The IC paid for the first and I assume they would be paying for this next one and 3 more after that. I have not been denied being treated for RSD. I have been denied for having my medication for depression and other pain meds I take daily because of the IME doctors report.

If your doctor made note of RSD I do not see why they would not pay for your treatments if needed. I am glad to see you have a lawyer as I feel If I had one the only difference for my claim right now is that I would of got a bigger rating and my medication still paid for. Other than that I have done well on my own getting treatments. I also have insurance as I work full time and that is what pays for my medication. I think Still is right, let the lawyer do his/her job and you focus on getting well. Good luck.

carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD.
1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10%

The Clinical Journal of Pain ( vol 24 #7 ) Nov 7th edition, just published a comparison of the two most used diagnostic criteria methods for CRPS type 1, Atkins criteria and IASP (Brueh)l criteria, and found them concordant. It may be helpful if you looked up both the Atkins and Bruehl criteria to support your claim.
