pain pump post-op complication

Just wondering if anyone has had one of the pumps they are using for shoulder surgeries. i've had 2 rotator cuff surgeries in the last year. the first one they sent me home with a pain pump that is filled with an anethestic to numb the shoulder. it stays in place for 48-72 hours then you remove it. when i went for the second surgery the nurse told my husband they are not using them anymore because they were having long-term problems with them. at my first post-op appointment my surgeon said everything went well and that he didn't see any problem with the cartilage. hmm we thought, we never even mentioned it. turns out these pumps are causing cartilage damage to the shoulder joint which will only get worse over time. of course there are thousands of lawsuits against these companies. this is probably one of the causes of the pain i'm still having.

here's the study that started the lawsuits. You would have to get your operative report to find out what was in the pain pump. It seems associated with the Bupivicaine/epinephrine combo. I would think the surgeon would have seen and mentioned any problems at the 2nd surgery since it appears that the damage arises fairly soon after the surgery.
