Big Grin I got Voc Rehab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got the letter in the mail today ya'll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I am approve for all vocational rehabilitation services through the State of Colorado Big Grin Big Grin

What this means is they will send me to college, help with my cost of living, etc for a career of my choice! Ain't God great? I wonder, if the flares stay out of control, and prevent me from attending school, will VR force WC to get me pain management? Is there any hope in that direction?

One problem though, I don't know what I want to be when I grow up, lol Tongue . I loved what I did before Sad .

Anywho, I finally have some good news to share ya'll so there it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Admin, you are the greatest, by the way!!!! Tongue

Rolleyes RE: I got Voc Rehab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sithie, I wish you well in all of this!! Trust me..it's a long road to travel...been there, still doing it! I don't want to rain on your parade but in my situation Voc Rehab was court ordered. I was entitled to all of the same things you were. NOW, if you submit a proposal for education then it still has to be approved by the state!! Keep this in mind! It's not just a give-me at this point. All they were saying is that Yes, you are entitled to Voc services. It doesn't guarantee anything.....if it's anything like my state. Might want to ask some questions about that if you can! Like I said, I don't want to rain on your parade...but I'm just letting you know how they play that game!!! If it's ordered that you are entitled to voc services it seems like they resent it and make it more difficult to obtain an educational plan's approval. Just a feeling I have gotten out of my experience. Also, most states while they say they are helping with living expenses and mileage and so forth it isn't quite as good as it appears either. In my case, there is a limit as to how much they'll pay for mileage to/from school. Also, they only pay a percentage of cost of living if you were to have to move to the town and commute on weekend in order to attend classes. In my case, the only pay other than what I was getting was that instead of getting paid (as I am now) based on my disability, they will begin paying you what you received when you were being paid total disability. That's the only pay that was going to be when attending school other than mileage to/from classes. In my case I would have eaten up the maximum in mileage in about 3 days and then the rest of the month would be left up to me. That's why we're trying to get my schooling completed with online classes!!! Good luck!! If you're aways away from schools that you could attend then it might be of benefit to check into doing most, if not all, of your classes online!!! That's the only way I could attend school without loosing my house, vehicles, utilities....everything!! That's what happens when you live in a rural area I guess!!! LOL
Anyway, I'm glad Voc Services were approved for you, I'm sure you'll do fine in whatever you end up doing!!
Oh, and by the way....your voc counselor will probably do some testing to see where you're at in reading, math, spelling, reading comprehension and such before doing much of anything. Also, he'll probably do some testing that tells him where you'd be best situated in various professions. So, don't get all worried about what direction in which you want to proceed. They'll give you a list of possibilities and let you choose from there.............if it's anything like what I just went through for the last 6+ months!!
Good Luck Sweetie, you'll do fine with it all!!!!

Sithie this is wonderful. Have you and your counselor decided on what your major will be. I love school. It is so much work, but such a pleasure to learn. Especially if it is something you are interested in. good luck to you. Loads of love and lots of hugs coming your way...Carol (red)
