RE: People Helping People from CNN--GOTTA LOVE IT!
I too have seen this Problem Happening, I Open and Hold Doors for Ladies, Say Please and Thank You, at Age 46 still Call My Aunts and Uncles, with Aunt or Uncle being My First Word (Aunt Shirley, etc.) and I Instilled these Values in My Children. But More and More and not Only with Younger Folks, with People My Own Age and Older, a Change from these Habits. I Call them Habits because I do them Consistently, and Others just don't Seem to Care! I think this World has to get Back to Core Values, and if that were to be Done, Everyone would be the Better for it.Wink

Limbo, I agree with what you said. I was very proud when I heard my grandbabies saying please and thank you, it shows that my daughter is teaching them manners. I used to have people say that my daughter was too nice, because she would also say please and thank you and respect older people and say sir or mam, I think young children need this instilled in them so that they don't grow up ungratefull and have no sense of values.

I agree, the morals, and teaching of manners in our young people have gone to (shall we say pot) here in this country. or is it just because mom is not at home any longer , as she has to work so the family can have everything at once. And for Gods sake don't spank or decipline your own child or you could end up with a social worker at your home investigating you and your family to see if you are misstreating your children. and you could end up in court, I see parents turn there heads when there children are throwing tantrums, being brats and the parents just ignore . What a way to be responsable parents....

I could go on for hours on this subject, but am going out for lunch. Thank you all for listening to me rant...

Tuffy, I Agree that 2 Family Incomes has done More Harm than Good to Today's Children. They Spend Their Early Years being Taught by Some Stranger in Pre-School, and then when they are in Their Teens, they Usually get Home Before Their Parents, and Spend Time on X Box Killing People and Blowing Up Buildings!! Then when a Kid goes to a School and Starts Shooting Class Mates for Real, No One can Understand Why!? When I was small and did Something that Warranted an A** Whipping, My Dad sent Me Out to the Apple Tree to Pick Out My Own Switch from the Tree! And If We came back with One too Small, Dad would go out and I Swear He would bring in a Whole Branch!!! And My Mother Used a Metal Potato Turner, that She Still has to this Day!! And that Apple Tree is Still in the Yard!!Wink

Still- sound like you were raised the same way I was. If we didn't use manners the result was as patle to the back side. I taught my children to use manners as well. It is a habit that once learned stays with you for life.

May God send his angels to hold you in his arms

I agree with all of you, and I did pop my little daughters behind when necessary, didnt have to do it hard it was just enough to shock her little attitude. Oh yes and the 1-2-3 & that if I got to 3 it was restriction time.( I used to hate that when I was a kid), but it worked and she remembers to this day her manners, and about being polite and has every intention of teaching her own children when they come.
