RE: Another back question?
I've had 4 ESI's due to the nerve pain and weakness mostly in the right leg , and foot.

I've also had 1 discogram, 3 MRI's, 3 CT scans, 1 pet scan, 1 biopsy, and 2 rounds of therapy.

The last mri was without fluency (sp) and was done last winter.
I have S1 joint dysfunction, 3 bulging disc, leaky disc, the disc above S1 has loss of disc height, facet artophy, and at T12 a benign tumor in the bone morrow.

After the left knee replacement I started have very intense nerve pain on that side.

RE: Another back question?
Bummer,
When my Dr and PT were manipulating me to try and correct the SI joint dysfunction, I was given a prescription for a lift to wear in the heel of the shoe for the shortened leg. I stopped using it later when they felt that they got the SI Joint as close as they could. I forgot to mention on the last ppost thst they also measure where your front pelvis bones are in relationship to each side. The SI Joint affects this also. Good luck with you Drs. keep us posted.

AQA,
ESI = Epidural Steroid injection. Believe to relieve pain and inflammation ussually done in a series of three about 2 weeks apart.
Flouroscope = Type of live X-ray, allows Dr. to see where needle is for location.

Love
Vickie

RE: Another back question?
Bummer, I have experienced that once or twice it was just after my steroid shots, I had received bilateral facet shots L3-L4,L4-L5,L5-S1 which my Doc told me I was extremely swollen in there( it was done under fluro) the next morn I went out to my back porch and walked a little bit and lost the use of my leg it locked like, I couldnt use it,or control it or move it. I luckily found a close chair to sit in and had to wait until it went away or I was able to work it out, I dont Know what but it did go away in a few minutes, then I got up to go back inside and it did it again but luckily I could hop and drag myself to the couch. Hasn't happened since Thank God.. I have to think it had to do with the swelling of the nerves and the pressure from the degenerating discs in the lumbar sacral area. I think I have si joint problems too. Now the shooting pains , I have also but they are bilateral sacral shooting pains. I read this is from the discs degenerating,( I call it disintergrating ) which I have not had as bad since the shots, and it can also come from pressure with buldging discs. Now the steroid shots for me take at least 48 hrs and up, before I see any relief. Now my nerve problem is spreading downward where I can not sit for more than 20minutes then I have to lay down, My PM Doc says I need a caudal shot next, I have had 5 shots since feb 08 so far and I have to wait on this one its the last I can have this calendar year. I would guess you need a PM Doc and steroid shots again( ESI'S) and if its been over 1 year w/c will usually approve a new MRI because there can be lots of changes. And you need to call and tell your doc about those symptoms, and their frequency, especially if he doesnt know about it.

J
