Finding out status of claims
Treading water here. Everyone seems to be waiting for someone else to do something. And in the meantime-no income!
Basic info here:In California, On-the-job injury, October 2006. Various treatments/ two surgeries later treating doctor gave me permanent "restrictions". Temp disability payments stopped a month ago. QME waiting for medical reports (for a month now). No idea of status at my job (no modified work last report/ let go???)
I was told that I could file for unemployment (but I have never been officially let go?) and workers comp would have to pay unemp. people back. I just need to know what I could/should be doing. I doubt very much that I will be able to go back to my original kind of work. How/when might I find out about vocational rehabilitation?

RE: Finding out status of claims
You need to find out if you were let go. I don't know about California but here in Florida when I was let go I applied for unemployment and got benefits. When I went to court to try and get ttd benefits they just minused the amount from unemployment and gave me the difference.
Good luck to you

RE: Finding out status of claims
california no longer has a rehabilitation benefit.
you may be eligible for a voucher:
http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/rehab.html
did TD stop because you are permanent & stationary? do you have a rating?
if you don't have an impairment rating you need to get that QME report done. you can contact the Information & Assistance Officer for help
http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/IandA.html

here are fact sheets about QME and PD
http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/iwguides.html

workers comp would only reimburse unemployment if it was later found that you were to be on temporary disability time rather then permanent.
