miraciles do happen
i have been out on w/c since march of this year.last month i finally decided to apply for social security disability.well lo and behold ,after all the horror stories i have heard about social security i was expecting the worst.this am i got a call from my case worker and was told that i have been approved for disability and this only took less than 30 days, with no legal help.now i am wondering with my w/c claim still ongoing ,does my being deemed disabled by social security have any bearing on the outcome on my w/c claim.am i just lucky that things happened so quick ? usually these things take quite a while.the case worker for ss said that my 1st check will be cut 1st thing next week.

RE: miraciles do happen
Congratulations on Your Approval! As far as SSDI and w/c, they Use Totally Different Criteria when Deciding Disability. W/C only Looks at Your Injury, which is Fair because that is what Your Claim is Based on, while SSDI looks at Your Entire Health, Injuries or not when Deciding on Disability. I Thought I would be Helped with Mine, because I was Approved for SSDI in 3mos./3wks, at the Age of 43, and the Only Health Problem I had other than Slight Hypertension was My Injury!! So I was Basically deemed Disabled on My Injury alone, and My Attorney said that We could and did Mention it in Our Hearings, but I don't think it made a Real Difference in My Case. My Medical Evidence was Very Strong, and each Time I have had an Additional MRI, (I have had 4 Total) My Condition had Worsened, and I think that was More Impressive towards the Judge Ruling in My Favor, I don't think the SSDI Helped Much, but if You have an Attorney You may want to Discuss it with them, they May be able to Use it in Your Favor! Again Congratulations, and I Hope All Goes Well!!
Failed Back Surgery, Chronic Pain, Totally Disabled. Knowledge is Power, Especially in the World of w/c. Learn as Much as You can about Your States w/c Laws, and don't Fight Battles alone, They Use Attorney's, and so Should You!! |

RE: miraciles do happen
Miraciles do happen, like you i heard terrible storys about SSD. But i decided to apply on line with out my attorney. I had to see a SSD doctor, i thought for sure i was never going to get it. I called a month later and case worker said they were waiting for one more doctor report to come in. Two weeks later i also got a call telling me i was approved at my check would come next week. What i dont understand if the state agrees that your 100 % disable. Why is comp such a pain in the butt they still have me at 75%. I only worked part time so you can imagen i get enough for food and some small bills. I had Thoracic Out Let Sydrome had two surgerys and ened up with RSD/CRPS in my upperextremies. I also ened up with Ranaunds Diease in my lower extremites, and Hornaunds Syndrome ( Right eye droops and pupil is much smaller then left) . For all the pain i have to live with for the rest of my life i probably and is spreading. All i will get for a settlement is 140.00 a week and medical. Thats what i will agree on. But that what be for a while has they still contiue to haul my butt in to court. My husband just got upset because he didnt know i have to pay taxes on the two thousand dollars i recived from ssd back pay. What a night mare this system is. He said why do we have to pay for taxes thats why you filed for ssd to get money not pay back. Confused on comp!!!
