Games Employers Play
Not long ago, I wrote how I had been found eligible for short term disability while I waited to have my contested claim hearing on my workers comp claim that was denied back in March. And with being eligible for STD, I was still eligible to keep my medical insurance until it was decided whether my claim would be accepted or not.
Last week, I received a letter in the mail from Avis Budget Group administratively firing me as well as denying me my STD and medical benefits, as of the 3rd of October. So as of the end of the month, I will have no way to pay for my other health problems. This is so like Avis. For months, they told us that our jobs were safe and that the office wasn't going to close..then BAMM..between 2:45 Sunday night and 6 AM Monday, the office was closed down. They moved us to Budget trucks. But I wasn't hired by Budget..I was hired by Avis. They gave us the choice of moving or being fired. And they gave as 3 days of training..which is generally a 2 week process. I went out on medical leave the 26th, so did not make the transfer. Since then they have fired another 80 personel. Yet, I am eligible for rehire if and when I am released to go back to work....if they are hiring. In the meantime, I have been getting a series of lumbar sympathetic blocks for my RSD. I have one more to go on the 20th and then before I can do any more, my insurance is gone. My RSD isn't work comp related, but in the past month, due to stress and other things has spread to my left leg, and according to my pain management Dr who I saw last on Tuesday to apprise him of what is happening, it is now in my right arm as I have had to go for 7 months with no treatment on my arm that is injured through work comp and is starting to spread to my left arm. I am doing all that I can to find some kind of insurance that my pain management Dr will accept as well as some kind of prescription insurance that will get me through till we have the contested claim hearing and the judge rules in my favor so that I can start getting some money coming in and start paying for insurance. The way things are going, I am going to be eligible for ssdi before they ever get this case settled with the way that my health is continuing to deteriorate. Hope that y'all are having a good day Angel ^j^ I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane. ************ Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open |

RE: Games Employers Play
yes our health care system is in critical need of overhauling. Hopefully new political leadership will change direction in that regard and there will be more progress then talk.
in the meantime try some of these resources: https://www.rxhope.com http://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/ http://www.hrsa.gov/hillburton/hillburtonfacilities.htm https://www.pparx.org/Intro.php |

Oh the almighty buck!
Angel...you are in my prayers. 1171 is correct, insurance needs a major over-haul....and as Obama's commercials say..."we must put a stop to the insurance companies making the major decisions as to who is denied, this must stop!!" Oh how i agree! I wonder how this would effect the WC system....it needs a major over-haul too! Prayers for you Angel, Lilly

RE: Games Employers Play
Angel, I'm also Very Sorry to Hear of Your Current Situation. Are You eligible Time Wise to Sign for SSDI? I did and Fortunately I was Approved in 3mos./3wks. without an Attorney! They have been Very Helpful in Obtaining My wheelchair, and I have a Great Prescription Program for under $10.00 Per Month!! and My Co-Pays for Normal Medical Needs are Manageable! I surely Hope You are Eligible, and Apply Soon! (By the Way, I was 43 when I was Approved)
