RE: Obama's New Slogan
Those are also my feelings, and why would anyone put McCain on it, He is not black and by refering to the hood, It is a raciest comment against Obama, and I would feel the same way if it was directed towards McCain. My opinion.......

RE: Obama's New Slogan
Reguardless of who's picture is on it. I look at is they are depicting ROBIN HOOD. Stealing from the rich and giveing to the POOR. Was that not the story behind ROBIN HOOD?
My place of employment is located in the inner city part of the city, and they refer to it as the Ghetto, and as the Hood. But they would look at this as a picture of ROBIN HOOD.

It is my opinion that Robinhood is all one word, Not "from the" Hood......

RE: Obama's New Slogan
Mmhmmm...I can possibly understand why one might take the picture as "racist" or somewhat distasteful. But I don't think Quietdudetoo is a racist. I am not a racist myself - but I do see the humour in it , to keep from crying. If one could see beyond the "(FROM THE) HOOD" thingy then the rest of the "slogan" is essentially TRUE!

As witnessed here, Obama - without a script or teleprompter to rely on - finally got caught with his pants down, so to speak, when Joe the Plumber (Joseph Wurzelbacher) asked him a few questions which revealed the "man's " true Socialists agenda:
JOE WURZELBACHER: “I’m a plumber. You know, I work, you know, 10, 12 hours a day. If I buy another truck and add something else to it, and you know, build the company…”

OBAMA: “Right.”

WURZELBACHER: “… you know, I’m getting taxed more and more.”

OBAMA: “Nobody likes high taxes.”

WURZELBACHER: “No, not at all.”

OBAMA: “Right? Of course not. So — but what’s happened is, is that we end up — we’ve cut taxes a lot for folks like me who make a lot more than $250,000. We haven’t given a break to folks who make less. It’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance at success, too. And everybody is so pinched that business is bad for everybody. And I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Don't take my word for it, here's the video:
http://www.popmodal.com/video/322/Obama-...lth-around

Frederic Bastiat once said, “These socialists writers look upon people in the same manner that the gardener views his trees. Just as the gardener capriciously shapes the trees into pyramids, parasols, cubes, vases, fans, and other forms, just so does the socialist writer whimsically shape human beings into groups, series, centers, sub-centers, honeycombs, and other variations. And just as the gardener needs axes, pruning hooks, saws, and shears to shape his trees, just so does the socialist writer need the force that he can find only in law to shape human beings. For this purpose, he devises tariff laws, tax laws, relief laws, and school laws.”

“The State is the great fiction by which everyone seeks to live at the expense of everyone else.”

For a little perspective, here's a simple but poignant anology to why Obama's plan to spread the wealth is wrong:

Some folks do not know what Socialism is. Does Lenin, Stallin, Marx, Hitler, Mao, Chavez, Ayers and the Castro brothers ring a bell?

RE: Obama's New Slogan
Oh, and as for Robinhood: At least he stole from the rich and gave the riches back to the folks that it actually belonged to, to begin with! Whereas Obama wants to steal from the folks who busted their asses to amount to something.

RE: Obama's New Slogan
When I was 41, I went to College for the First Time, because the Business I was in Closed, and I wanted to get a Business Degree to Help find a New Career. I had an Economics Class (101) and the Trickle Down Theory was Taught to Me in a Very easy Way. If You give the Average American lets say $10,000.00, they will in All Reality Pay any Past Due Bills, buy a Few Items they want, and Possibly Save Some. If You give that Same $10,000.00 to a Business Owner, that May be just enough for them to Purchase a Used Truck to expand their Business, and they would also, by expecting a Greater Income with that Truck, Hire another Employee. If the Business Owner is Fortunate and does things Correctly, that One Used Truck and New Employee could Lead to Many More Trucks and Employees. Both Ways the $10K gets spent, but You can See how by giving it to a Business Owner how it Trickles into More Work for People, as Opposed as the $10K going to the Average Person. This is just a Very Small Example, and One I Believe in, being a Business Owner Myself at One Point in Time. Again Just My Opinion, and I Hope it gives some of You Something to think about when You Hear them Say Trickle Down Theory on these News Shows!Wink

so•cial•ism (s sh -l z m)
n.
1. Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.
2. The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved.

I have stayed away from this conversation mostly because I didn’t see that it posed any great concern to me. I was concern when I saw how some perceived it. First and for most I want to say without a doubt that the person who posted this picture is not a racist as we know racist today. I believe that it was a statement more about what Obama will do if elected than about being Robin Hood or being from the hood. I believe that the person who created this picture of Obama may have had some racist views behind his or her intention; however, that is not how the man who posted it saw it.

I have said that I truly enjoyed discussing the issues surrounding our society today.or about the issues surrounding this election. I love to share my opinion and also I want to hear the opinion of others whether after giving that opinion some consideration I still don’t agree. I have, however, noticed that we have taken the idea of discussing issues to listing all the reasons and some of them were cruel why the person we don't want should not be president. People who wanted to talk about Obama’s ideas where somewhat over taken with the strong comments about his character etc. I am not saying that I am voting for Obama, what I am saying is that we lost something very important here when we went down a path of accusations and cruelty. There is a way to communicate your dislike for someone in terms of them in the presidency without the negative remarks that I have heard recently. I know that people on this forum have been hurt as a result of it and this is the only reason I am saying anything.

There is a concept about negotiation that I learned in my Ph.d program. This concept is about how I convince someone that my idea has merit and is a better idea than your opponent’s. Basically it is taking about a debate and winning. I learned and had many opportunities to practice the style of “dialog.” Dialog does not allow for personalization of issues or people. The discussion is directed toward providing evidence as to why one person’s idea has more merit than another’s. For politics, I believe this is the best way to discuss the issues. For instance, using this methodology, if I wanted to convince you that let say that Obama is the best choice for President, I would explain to you all the reasons why Obama is the best. I would not put your candidate down or belittle him or her. Unfortunately this did not happen in our discussions. Consequently I just dropped out of the discussion. You see, I care about all of you, and I know and appreciate that each of you are different people with different needs and ideas about this political race. I can respect that. Can you respect that? We must respect each other’s ideas and points of view.

The idea that Obama desires to move our country towards a socialism government and society was mentioned. I believe that a lot of die hard democrats believe more along the ideas of socialism than capitalism anyway so the statement does not surprise me. I do not believe that no US citizen take it to the extent taken by some of the people of history that was listed. Even so I do believe that we should always be on our toes about this sort of thing to protect our country. I don’t believe it is fair to tax a greater percentage of the rich either…we have all worked to have what we have or don’t have.

In the future I would like to see more facts and less bashing. I am honestly interested in all of your opinions, but not at the cost of hurt feelings or people not feeling excepted.

Thanks for reading…this was too long again..sorry about that. Love you all Red

RE: Obama's New Slogan
Thank you Red for your post.

I also have stayed away from this thread.

My take on the original post was the direction Obama would take if elected.

I too have been concerned about the way some have perceived the original post.

RE: Obama's New Slogan
Now, just for the Record, and I will not Reply to this Post any Longer, in the Beginning I Stated I didn't Discuss Politics, and I went Against My Better Judgment! I don't Like it when things Start to Draw Lines in the Sand Between Us, and Cause Upheaval! I Agree a Good Discussion about Candidates is a Very Good thing, but Mud Slinging, and if You Look at Any of My Posts, I don't think I even Mentioned the Candidates Names more than Once or Twice, I was trying to Discuss Policies, and I do Take Offense to the Original Thread on Here, I Live in an Area where the Blacks Still don't live in Perryopolis or Star Junction, the 2 small Coal Mining Towns I Live in, (I'm right on the Border of the 2), they Live in Whittset, where they were Originally put by the Coal Co. in the Early Part of the 1900's. So Trust me, when I See something Racist You can Bet that it is! I am not an Obama Fan, and I was Raised in a Very Racist Area and Family, but the Robin from the Hood is Racist, No Matter which Way You Twist it! How the Person who Posted it Meant it I'm not Sure, I don't think they have been Back on this Thread to Explain, and they May Feel they don't want or have to, and that is Their Right, just as it's My Right to Read it as it was Meant, Racist! And I don't think that's Fair to Obama, in any Way Shape or Form!! I'll Stop Now, I don't want to Beat this to Death, My Trickle Down Theory was for Use as an Example I Learned in College, and I didn't Mean to Upset Anyone!! I Hope Your Candidate Wins, as I Wish Mine Does, let's Just All Remember to get Out there and Vote!!Wink
