RE: Work Called
Thank y'all for your responses. It means the world to me. I will be eligible for coverage under COBRA, but have no idea what it will cost me. At this time, I am waiting for the official paperwork firing me to arrive in the mail. Unless they are now going to hold it till Tuesday and give it to me in person when I go and turn in my badge and headset and pick up my personal belongings that are still there.
Bummer and BB, I took what you had to say and started searching on the net today. I have several websites bookmarked that I am going to start looking into Monday while I can do nothing but lie in bed after my lumbar block. Thanks for the tips. Vick, unfortunately I don't have AAA. But thanks for the tip. Soonermom, thanks to my boyfriend, I don't have to worry about loosing my home, car or not having food on the table. But I do have personal bills that he can't keep paying for me. I owe him about 2 grand right now. And this is the last month he can cover for me. He is a school teacher here, so you now that he doesn't make thousands of dollars a month. Sparkey, the meds that I take have nothing to do with my work comp case. They are all tied into my RSD,axonal neuropathy and L4-L5-S1 discs. Three of the meds that I take.. kadian, cymbalta and hydrocodone can only be filled once a month. So I can get them all filled one more time this month and when they are gone, unless I have found another way to fill them, then that is it. The topamax, clonazepan, and folnate have refills which I plan on getting all refills before the end of my 30 day period. As for the blocks, I got smart and called my Dr Monday and got a series of three scheduled for the 6th, 13th and 20th so that they will still be covered under my insurance. (I have till the end of the month before my insurance from work will expire and cobra pick up by law). And see my PM dr the 14th for a regular appointment. I am going to have to find out what kind of insurance he will and will not accept so I know what ones to apply for. I can't afford to loose my treatment with him. We are hoping that with each block, it will last longer than the one before. The first one lastest just over 5 days and I went from a 9 to about a 2 on the pain scale..which I can live with. The only problem was when I came off of the block.. I had pain like I had never in my life ever experienced and was bedridden for 2 days. I hope that doesn't happen each time the block wears off. But I am willing to do it if it means that eventually..if not forever.. but for a period of time, we can put the RSD into remission . Sweet Dreams Y'all Angel ^j^ I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane. ************ Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open |

RE: Work Called
Angel I know that meds cant be picked up until that amount of time has gone by .. the scrips can be at the pharmancy waiting for you ... See if you can maybe pay ahead for them now while you do have the money or maybe they also might know of a program ..
ask at the dr about samples for I got cymbalta that way even if they need to switch to something that they do give as samples .. it would be better .. You are so lucky to have a dr that will eveen see you .. In my area if its w/c related they dont want to get involved .. I noticed that the claim form is right on the top of the file ... Even though the boss sent me to start with this same place at first .. |

RE: Work Called
Tweety,
There are only three WC Dr's in our area, and without written permission from my employer to treat me, they wouldn't touch me. Luckily, I had a good referral for my WC attorney (there aren't any of those in this area unless it involves a moving vehicle). She..my attorney, has a list of several Dr's that will work with her on a non-payment basis, just to get the evidence that the IW needs to link the injury to their job. However, they can't do any type of treatment until it is accepted as a work injury. That's that only bad part of it. But I know that this Dr won't let me down once this is found to be work related. He has three other Dr's lined up that he is sending me to for the testing that I should have had back in February. The EMG/NCS , The MRI and x-rays along with PT. So he isn't going to be sitting on his laurels once he has the go ahead to treat me. RE: Work Called
My letter of discharge arrived in the mail yesterday, along with a slip of paper saying I have a certified letter waiting at the post office for me. I guess that I will go and pick that up this afternoon when I go and turn in my badge and headset and pickup my personal belongings from the office.
I was actually surprises at how cordial the letter was. Quote" As you know, you have been out on non-FMla medical leave from August 26, 2008 to September 26, 2008. While Avis Budget Group has very generous programs to assist employees who are unable to work for a period of time, it is not possible to give employees open-ended leave. In this regard, this letter will serve to advise you that because you are not able to return to work; your employment with Avis Budget Group has been terminated, effective as of the date of this letter. You will receive pay for any unused accrued vacation days, but not for unused sick days. Further, such termination will not effect your eligibility for disability benefits. In addition, you will be eligible to remain covered under Avis Budget Groups Groups health coverage through the entire period that you qualify to receive short-term disability benefits. Upon your recovery, you may reapply for employment with Avis Budget Group. Rebecca, we wish you well and if you have any questions please contact me at ##$%%*^$$#$ Best Regards " unquote My contested claim hearing isn't until the 13th of November and then the adjuducator had 10 days to put out his ruling. If not in my favor, then we have to wait for a date for an appeals date which could be months. During which, I would still be collecting STD and my health insurance. If it goes past a year, they would move it over to long term disability and I could continue collecting on my health insurance for the rest of my life. I guess that you learn something new every day. But even if the cch is found in my favor, at least I will still be eligible for cobra and that extra time to find new insurance that i can afford along with prescription insurance. SO that takes a lot of stress off of my shoulders for the time being and time to really research insurance. Have a super day all.
