Bad Boy/Back question?
Hi Bad Boy

I have a back question for you.

I have noticed lately when I am walking either a short distance or longer distance I have a constant burning down the back of my leg.
The burning let up when I am sitting.

I still have the pins and needles in my foot and sometimes lighting bolts down my leg but always the burning is there.

Can you tell me what the constant burning means and do I need to let the doctor know about this?

Thanks,
Bummer Knees

RE: Bad Boy/Back question?
Burning is in many to most cases a Nerve or Nerves inflamed. I would tell the doctor on your next visit. But this is why you are given the Neurotin. For the Nerves.

So Bummer, take your Meds; For they take time to start working...

RE: Bad Boy/Back question?
I am wondering if something may be moving and pressing against the nerve while you are walking.

RE: Bad Boy/Back question?
AQA, I would say the same, but also her Gait is off due to her Knee's giving her problems, plus recent Total knee replaced in one leg. I too had this happen to me, but once the knee got better so did my lower back pain. But she also has lower spinal concerns that need to be dealt with.

RE: Bad Boy/Back question?
I undertsand. The knee does throw another factor into the equation. I can only speak of my injury, and yes I am paraniod about disk fragements. I found/find it interesting that the burning leaves when she sits. When we sit, the nerve such as the S1 is steched. unlike when we lay or stand. When we walk, we are also streching the nerve. Streching may not be the correct word, but I am sure you all can see what I am trying to say.

RE: Bad Boy/Back question?
Bummer - have they done a EMG on the legs? It sounds like never damage Could be RSD- talk with you doctor concerning it. If it is RSD the sooner treated the better chance of it healing and less damage. The nerves are very slow regrowning, It takes 6 months to grow 1/2 inch. If it is just injuried then as your knee heals the burning should go away.

May God send his angels to hold you in his arms

AQA, good point. My opinion is she is walking with her gait (posture out of line) that when she sits, she is more straight up with her gait then, and the pressure off the spine now. But that is my best guess.

RE: Bad Boy/Back question?
I have been having back problems since my injury. I was injured Nov 2005 and remember being up all night because of the knife and needle pain in my left foot.

It was the left knee that was replaced this summer

I started having radiculopathy pain in my right leg and foot five month after my injury, I went to the doctor and was told I was having nerve pain and sent to an ortho.
