There is a hearing on my case set for Monday 8 Sept. How do I (other than my lame attorney) find info on my case. I have an IL case #. I've been waiting 6 months since hiring an atty to find out my case status.

You haven't said what the Hearing is for.

Reply's are intended solely for informational purposes. They are based on personal opinions, experience, or research and are "not to be taken as fact or legal advice", otherwise, always consult an attorney or a doctor.

RE: case info question
Cases in Illinois are heard by an arbitrator every 3 months and than settled or refered to the next 3 months, Your attorney should be working on getting all the info he/she needs, medical etc and all reports. and should keep you up to date at least once a month. Have you tried calling your attorney? and you can always make an appointment to see him/her. for a sit down talk. Good luck

RE: case info question
Talked with Attorney today said My former Employer is denying a work comp case because I was released from the Occupational Therapy dept after the emergency room visit. However still in pain with swelling I was refered to the doctors within a week who actually provider services that eventually led to surgeries & Therapies with statements from surgeons that services provided were directly due to my injury. Lawyer says two or three months before trial, needs to depo doctors, needs to interview me.
then 30 to 60 days before decision on wages or medical, then another 30 days to get back pay. Basicaly told me it could be 8 to 24 months, unless I get released for work and then he can go right for settlement.
Currently unemployed without income 7 months. I don't know what to do.. Meeting on Sept 8th has come and gone (status Hearing?) don't know yet what went down yet Lawer was supposed to call I tried him 3 times without luck. Maybe tomorrow....

RE: case info question
Sounds like your attorney has been working on your case. I also was denied nd it took a year before my claim was excepted. Do you have disability insurance through work? have you been terminated by your employer? have you filed for unemployment.? If all else and no income contact Illinois Dept of Human Services in your area. If you can't work per Drs orders they may be able to help..

RE: case info question
My hearing was on my rating and medications. The labor board of NH forced the IC to ask for a hearing because my doctor had me for 32% and their doctor had me for 10%. I saved every document and was pro-se without a lawyer. Before the hearing I was mailed a copy of what was going to be presented at the hearing. You should have a copy from your lawyer of EVERYTHING that is going to be brought up at the hearing.

Medical records, etc. should all be kept. I would definitly contact the lawyer to give you copies of what he/she is presenting at the hearing.

carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD.
1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10%

RE: case info question
(previous post is New guy Left...) I have a legal question for those of you with more experience than me . I worked as a contract employee for a large national manufacturing company. I was injured on their property during my normal work hours. As you know I have been out 7 months no money or pay, no medical except state aid. Can I file a personal injury law suit against the company as well as persuing the lenghty WC case I have filed (that keeps going nowhere) and received nothing from. By doing this I would hope to cause the company I was employed with to take my case more seriously (because they don't want their client being sued by a former employee), or possibly receive a faster response and award to get on with things.
