Carpal Tunnel
After testing by the neurologist today I learned I have carpal tunnel of my right hand.

I am not really suprised due to the problems I have been having, also having problems with my left hand.

I am looking for information or web sites to help me better understand carpal tunnel.

Thank you,
Bummer Knees

RE: Carpal Tunnel
Hi Bummer...I don't know a lot about carpal tunnel. I was a nurse in the OR during a carpel tunnel surgery. What I remember is that a ganglion is cut from a muscle and then the follow up orders said a brace for X amount of time. If you need help looking just let me know. Love Red

RE: Carpal Tunnel
I visited the Mayo site and it was very helpful, thank you Tuffy.

I worked 8 years with infants & toddlers, lots of diaper changing in that time.
I remember several Early Childhood teachers having problems with carpal tunnel.
May be where I got mine.

RE: Carpal Tunnel
My doctor tells me I have moderate carpal tunnel.

I was given a couple of options and I selected to start wearing a brace on the right hand.

The doctor says if a brace dosen't work then it's surgery.

RE: Carpal Tunnel
Bummer,
I had the release surgery in the past on both hands. Then due to gripping the steering wheel and bracing myself in the car accident, I did the left hand again, plus some other damage. I wore the brace for about 6 months, then had the surgery on August 12th,08. I have a wrist cirset brace to wear for protection now until I'm healed. For the most part I think it is healing, but still have pain in the wrist and palm. I don't have the tiingling, numbness and dropping things though. Good luck.
Love
Vickie

RE: Carpal Tunnel
Bummer...my husband had carpal tunnel surgery on both sides. He wore a splint for years only at night. Dr. told him the splints might have continued to work IF he didn't continue the same repetitive work with the weight added to it. For some surgery is never necessary, for some it is very quickly. Best of luck,.
